Removing Oxide Layers and Retaining Oxide‐Free Steel Surfaces by Polishing in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere
In this study, the efficacy of wet mechanical polishing under an oxygen‐free atmosphere for deoxidation and the retention of an oxide‐free steel surface are elucidated using X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The methodology proved successful; however, the results were highly dependent on the preparation of the solvents used to clean the samples after ...

Boundary monotonicity formulae and applications to free boundary problems I: The elliptic case
We derive a monotonicity formula at boundary points for a class of nonlinear elliptic partial differential equations, including the obstacle problem case, quenching, a free boundary problem with Bernoulli-type free boundary condition as well as the blow ...

Perturbation in a Free Boundary Problem
This paper is concerned with the Dirichlet boundary value problem for a semilinear elliptic partial differential equation with a discontinuous nonlinearity on the unit ball \(B\) in \(\mathbb{R}^2\). Precisely, the authors consider the problem for \(u\) with two positive parameters \(\lambda\) and \(\varepsilon\): \[ - \Delta u= (\lambda+ \varepsilon g(

Collagen hydrolysate is evaluated as a sustainable binder for MgO‐C refractories. Its thermally induced cross‐linking and gas release lead to expansion and cracking in large bricks, but tailored batches with lignin, recyclates, or fine graphite improve the gas release while thermal treatment and stability.

Porosity of the free boundary for singular p-parabolic obstacle problems
In this article we establish the exact growth of the solution to the singular quasilinear p-parabolic obstacle problem near the free boundary from which follows its porosity.

Displacement of oil by water in a single elastic capillary
In this paper we consider the evolution of a free boundary separating two immiscible viscous fluids with different constant densities. The joint motion of liquids in the solid skeleton is described by Stokes equations coupled with Lamé equations, driven ...

Brunet-Derrida particle systems, free boundary problems and Wiener-Hopf equations
We consider a branching-selection system in $\mathbb {R}$ with $N$ particles which give birth independently at rate 1 and where after each birth the leftmost particle is erased, keeping the number of particles constant. We show that, as $N\to\infty$, the

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

In this paper, we have undertaken the challenging and novel task of establishing the existence of weak solutions for four types of hyperbolic Kirchhoff-type problems: the classical hyperbolic Kirchhoff problem, the problem with a free boundary, the ...
