Thermal vibrational convection in near-critical fluids. Part 1. Non-uniform heating [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A theoretical model describing the response of a single-phase near-critical fluid to small-amplitude, high-frequency translational vibrations is developed on the basis of the multiple-scale and averaging methods.

Stability analysis of Electro-thermo convection of binary fluid with chemical reaction in a horizontal porous layer

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2016
In the present article, we illustrate the onset of electro-thermo convection of a binary fluid in a horizontal porous layer subject to fixed temperatures and chemical equilibrium on the bounding surfaces.

An analysis of convection in a mushy layer with a deformable permeable interface [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We study the dynamics of a mushy layer in directional solidification for the case of a thin near-eutectic mush with a deformable and permeable mush–liquid interface.

Experimental determination of natural convection heat transfer coefficients in an attic shaped enclosure

open access: yes, 2010
Heat transfer by natural convection in triangular enclosures is an area of significant importance in applications such as the design of greenhouses, attics and solar water heaters.

Additive Gaussian Process Regression for Predictive Design of High‐Performance, Printable Silicones

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A chemistry‐aware design framework for tuning printable polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for vat photopolymerization (VPP) is developed using additive Gaussian process (GP) modeling. Polymer network mechanics informs variable groupings, feasible formulation constraints, and interaction variables.

Free Convection MHD Flow with Thermal Radiation from an Impulsively-Started Vertical Plate

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis, 2009
This paper investigates the combined effects of magnetohydrodynamics and radiation on free convection flow past an impulsively started isothermal vertical plate with Rosseland diffusion approximation.

Composition‐Tuned Enhancement of the Anomalous Nernst Effect in FeCo–Pt Thin Films on Rigid and Flexible Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.

Natural convection and the evolution of a reactive porous medium

open access: yes, 2011
We describe a mathematical model of buoyancy-driven flow and solute transport in a saturated porous medium, the porosity and permeability of which evolve through precipitation and dissolution as a mineral is lost or gained from the pore fluid. Imposing a

Numerical Simulation of Columnar Crystal/Equiaxed Crystal Formation Model in a Convection Diffusion-multiphase Transformation System

open access: yesCailiao gongcheng, 2017
The horizontal rapid solidification of Fe-Bi-Mn free-cutting alloys were simulated by using diffusion-governed phase transformation kinetics. The three-dimensional solidification model for a convection diffusion-multiphase transformation system was built.

Combined Process‐ and Phase‐Field‐Simulation to Predict the Microstructure of Single‐Crystal Ni‐Based Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined finite element and phase‐field approach predicts the evolution of microstructure during the directional solidification of Ni‐based superalloys. The model reveals how withdrawal rate, temperature gradient, and wall thickness control the dendrite spacing, highlighting the strong effect of surface regions in thin sections where dendrite growth ...
