Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Visual Localization for Deep-Sea Mining Vehicles During Operation

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Deep-sea mining operations demand continuous, drift-free positioning over multi-day missions—a requirement that traditional acoustic dead-reckoning systems struggle to meet due to cumulative error accumulation and frequent DVL bottom-lock loss in ...

On the Hausdorff continuity of free Lèvy processes and free convolution semigroups

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2018
Let $μ$ denote a Borel probability measure and let $\{ μ_{t} \}_{t\geq 1}$ denote the free additive convolution semigroup of Nica and Speicher. We show that the support of these measures varies continuously in the Hausdorff metric for $t >1$. We utilize complex analytic methods and, in particular, a characterization of the absolutely continuous ...

Supports of Measures in a Free Additive Convolution Semigroup [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Mathematics Research Notices, 2014
In this paper, we study the supports of measures in the free additive convolution semigroup $\{μ^{\boxplus t}:t>1\}$, where $μ$ is a Borel probability measure on $\mathbb{R}$. We give a formula for the density of the absolutely continuous part of $μ^{\boxplus t}$ and use this formula to obtain certain regularizing properties of $μ^{\boxplus t}$.

Influence of an Argon/Silane Atmosphere on the Temperature of a Thermal Plasma

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of a silane‐doped argon atmosphere on the chemical composition and temperature of a thermal nontransferring argon plasma is investigated using optical emission spectroscopy. As a result of the high amount of free electrons resulting from the stepwise ionization and dissociation of the silane molecule, even a silane addition of 0.01 vol ...

Effect of Oxygen Content on Surface and Subsurface Integrity During Turning of Ti–6Al–4V

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how oxygen content in the ambient atmosphere affects the surface and subsurface properties of Ti–6Al–4V during turning. Results show that oxygen does not influence surface roughness. However, machining in an extremely high vacuum‐adequate atmosphere increases surface hardness by up to 7.8% and induces compressive residual stresses ...

Fabric Defect Detection Based on Improved Lightweight YOLOv8n

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In response to the challenges posed by complex background textures and limited hardware resources in fabric defect detection, this study proposes a lightweight fabric defect detection algorithm based on an improved GSL-YOLOv8n model.

Oxide‐Free Titanium Coatings by Wire Arc Spraying in a Silane‐Doped Inert Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A silane‐doped argon atmosphere enables the production of oxide‐free titanium coatings via twin‐wire arc spraying at ambient pressure. This innovative approach eliminates residual oxygen, creating process conditions that prevent oxidation and nitride formation.

The Hadamard product and the free convolutions [PDF]

open access: yesStatistics & Probability Letters, 2017
It is shown that if a probability measure $ν$ is supported on a closed subset of $(0,\infty)$, that is, its support is bounded away from zero, then the free multiplicative convolution of $ν$ and the semicircle law is absolutely continuous with respect to the Lebesgue measure.
