Describing free groups

open access: yes, 2012
We consider countable free groups of different ranks. For these groups, we investigate computability theoretic complexity of index sets within the class of free groups and within the class of all groups.

Bounding the residual finiteness of free groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We find a lower bound to the size of finite groups detecting a given word in the free group, more precisely we construct a word wn of length n in non-abelian free groups with the property that wn is the identity on all finite quotients of size ?

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Free Groups and Folding

open access: yes, 2017
This chapter studies subgroups of free groups using the combinatorics of graphs and a simple operation called folding. It introduces a topological model for free groups and uses this model to show the rank of the free group H and whether every finitely ...

F-formation detection: individuating free-standing conversational groups in images. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Detection of groups of interacting people is a very interesting and useful task in many modern technologies, with application fields spanning from video-surveillance to social robotics.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Limit groups as limits of free groups: compactifying the set of free groups.

open access: yes, 2005
Decembre 2003. 57 pages. (Correction d'une imprecision)We give a topological framework for the study of Sela's limit groups:limit groups are limits of free groups in a compact space of markedgroups. Many results get a natural interpretation in this ...

Free products of topological groups and $M$-equivalence

open access: yesМатематичні Студії
In the paper we apply free products of topological groups for investigating the $M$-equivalence of Tychonoff spaces which are infinite disjoint sums of its subspaces. The main result is the following: Let $X=\overset{\infty}{\underset{i=1}{\oplus}}X_{i}$

Finite groups with star-free noncyclic graphs

open access: yesOpen Mathematics, 2019
For a finite noncyclic group G, let Cyc(G) be the set of elements a of G such that 〈a, b〉 is cyclic for each b of G. The noncyclic graph of G is a graph with the vertex set G ∖ Cyc(G), having an edge between two distinct vertices x and y if 〈x, y〉 is not

On the intersection of free factors of a free group [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1977
An example is given of a descending sequence of free factors of a free group F whose intersection is not a free factor of F .
