Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

ON THE GROUPS OF THE INFINITELY GENERATED FREE ABELIAN GROUPS AUTOMORPHISMS

open access: yesВестник Кемеровского государственного университета, 2015
Let A be an infinitely generated free abelian group. The paper shows that all automorphisms of the group Aut(A) are inner.

MULTIPLICATIVE MEASURES ON FREE GROUPS [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Algebra and Computation, 2003
We introduce a family of multiplicative distributions {μs|s∈(0,1)} on a free group F and study it as a whole. In this approach, the measure of a given set R⊆F is a function μ(R) : s → μs(R), rather then just a number. This allows one to evaluate sizes of sets using analytical properties of their measure functions μ(R).

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Growth in free groups (and other stories)—twelve years later

open access: yesIllinois Journal of Mathematics, 2010
. We start by studying the distribution of (cyclically reduced) elements of the free groups F n with respect to their Abelianization (or equivalently, their class in H 1 ( F n , Z )). We derive an explicit generating function, and a limiting distribution,

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...
