Unlocking the Transformative Potential of Outdoor Office Work—A Constructivist Grounded Theory Study

open access: yesChallenges
White-collar workers around the world are reconfiguring their ways of working. Some have found their way out, performing office work outdoors, through walk-and-talks, outdoor meetings, or reading sessions.

Realizability of free spaces of curves

open access: yesComputational Geometry
The free space diagram is a popular tool to compute the well-known Fréchet distance. As the Fréchet distance is used in many different fields, many variants have been established to cover the specific needs of these applications. Often, the question arises whether a certain pattern in the free space diagram is "realizable", i.e., whether there exists a

For \(\{x_ 1, \dots, x_ n\}\) a basis of the dual vector \(n\)-space \((V^ n)^*\) and \(S\) a symmetric algebra of \((V^ n)^*\), isomorphic to the polynomial algebra \(\mathbb{K} [x_ 1, \dots, x_ n]\), each hyperplane \(H \subset V^ n\) has a defining form \(\alpha_ H = a_ 1x_ 1 + \cdots + a_ nx_ n\) with \(\text{ker} (\alpha_ H) = H\) (unique up to a ...

Effects of the Fluid Replacement Method During Online Hemodiafiltration on the Solute Removal Performance and Biocompatibility Using the Asymmetric Cellulose Triacetate Membrane

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pre‐dilution online hemodiafiltration (Pre‐HDF) is predominantly used in Japan, whereas post‐dilution online HDF (Post‐HDF) is more common in Europe. An asymmetric cellulose triacetate (ATA) membrane may improve biocompatibility.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Morphological and physiological changes during maturation of okra seeds evaluated through image analysis

open access: yesScientia Agricola
: This study was performed to associate specific morphological parameters, defined by X-ray images, with seed performance of okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench) during maturation.

Denote by \(X^{S^ 1}\) the space of all continuous maps from the circle into a simply connected finite CW complex X. Theorem: Let \({\mathbb{K}}\) be a field and suppose that either char \({\mathbb{K}}>\dim X\) or that X is \({\mathbb{K}}\)-formal. Then the Betti numbers \(b_ q=\dim H_ q(X^{S^ 1};{\mathbb{K}})\) are uniformly bounded above if and only ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Free space quantum key distribution over 500 meters using electrically driven quantum dot single-photon sources—a proof of principle experiment

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2014
Highly efficient single-photon sources (SPS) can increase the secure key rate of quantum key distribution (QKD) systems compared to conventional attenuated laser systems.
