Calculation of the longitudinal aerodynamic characteristics of wing-flap configurations with externally blown flaps [PDF]

open access: yes
An analytical method for predicting the longitudinal aerodynamic characteristics of externally blown flap configurations is described. Two potential flow models make up the prediction method: a wing and flap lifting-surface model and a turbofan engine ...

Multimodal Human–Robot Interaction Using Human Pose Estimation and Local Large Language Models

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A multimodal human–robot interaction framework integrates human pose estimation (HPE) and a large language model (LLM) for gesture‐ and voice‐based robot control. Speech‐to‐text (STT) enables voice command interpretation, while a safety‐aware arbitration mechanism prioritizes gesture input for rapid intervention.

Analysis of Dynamic Responses of Floating Offshore Wind Turbines in Typical Upstream Wake Conditions Based on an Innovative Coupled Dynamic Analysis Method

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Floating offshore wind turbines (FOWTs) are crucial for harnessing deep-sea wind energy resources. However, existing studies on FOWTs have predominantly focused on standalone wind turbines, neglecting the wake effects from upstream turbines within the ...

Modeling of Nonlinear Flexible Aircraft Dynamics Including Free-Wake Effects

open access: yesAIAA Atmospheric Flight Mechanics Conference, 2010
This paper addresses the unified aeroelastic and flight dynamics characterization of low-speed slender-wing aircraft, including free-wake effects and aerodynamic interference. An analysis framework is presented that targets the prediction of stability and handling qualities of high-altitude long-endurance vehicles, which are prone to experience large ...

A Central Somatic Transmission Mediates Proprioceptive Facilitation of Muscle Pain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Zhang et al. uncover a novel central mechanism for persistent muscle pain, in which TRPA1 sensitization in MeV proprioceptive neurons enhances somatic secretion. This, in turn, disinhibits descending pain control from neighboring noradrenergic locus coeruleus neurons via local GABAergic circuits, thereby promoting inflammatory muscle pain.

Flow-field Survey of an Empennage Wake Interacting with a Pusher Propeller [PDF]

open access: yes
The flow field between a model empennage and a 591-mm-diameter pusher propeller was studied in the Ames 7- by 10-Foot Wind Tunnel with directional pressure probes and hot-wire anemometers.

Paternal Circadian Disruption Impairs Offspring Cognition via Sperm microRNAs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Paternal circadian disruption remodels the sperm small RNA payload, elevating miR‐92a‐3p/miR‐25‐3p levels and perturbing early embryonic gene regulatory programs. Microinjection experiments and single‐embryo transcriptomics reveal sex‐specific developmental vulnerabilities, ultimately impairing offspring hippocampal synaptic plasticity and cognition ...

Comparison of calculated and measured helicopter rotor lateral flapping angles [PDF]

open access: yes
Calculated and measured values of helicopter rotor flapping angles in forward flight are compared for a model rotor in a wind tunnel and an autogiro in gliding flight.

The effect of lift on the wave-making resistance of multi-hull craft [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A potential based panel method is presented to estimate the wave-making characteristics of multi-hull craft. In order to simulate the lifting potential flow around the sub-hulls, the method adopts mixed source/doublet distributions on the sub-hulls and ...
