Reorganization of Innate Immune Cell Lipid Profiles by Bioinspired Meroterpenoids to Limit Inflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Resolution pharmacology is an emerging strategy to tackle inflammatory pathologies. Bioinspired meroterpenoids induce a lipid mediator class switch toward inflammation resolution in vitro and in vivo by targeting key nodes in lipid mediator biosynthesis and neutral lipid dynamics.

Intratumoral Hypoxia Triggers Mitochondrial BHLHE40 ROS Sensing Pathway to Promote Radioresistance in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hypoxia triggers a dual mechanism for BHLHE40 upregulation: reactive oxygen species (ROS)‐dependent post‐translational modification and hypoxia‐inducible factor (HIF)‐dependent transcriptional activation. Under hypoxic conditions, mitochondrial BHLHE40 accumulates and senses ROS via cysteine thiol oxidation and disulfide‐linked homodimer formation ...

B Cells are Activated via a Nanoporous Interface that Stabilizes Microvilli and Engages Mechanosensitive Ion Channels

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
B cells can be activated independently of antigen recognition via mechanical stimulation through nanoporous substrates. Exposure to such substrates induced B cell microvilli extension into the pores, intracellular Ca2+ signaling, phosphorylation of signaling proteins, and CD69 expression.

Freezing susceptibility and freezing tolerance in Palaearctic Cetoniidae (Coleoptera)

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Zoology, 2001
Insects have evolved various adaptations that allow them to survive adverse seasons. In terms of cold-hardiness, they may classically be divided into freezing-susceptible versus freezing-tolerant species. But this concept of two alternative cold-hardiness strategies is now amendable, and to better understand these adaptive mechanisms, it is of ...

Freezing Tolerance and Injury in Grapevines

Journal of Crop Improvement, 2004
Summary Grapes, due to their wide distribution, are one of the temperate fruit crops most frequently damaged by freezing temperatures. Freezing injury can result in decreases in yield and substantial economic losses to grape growers, subsequently impacting fruit wholesalers, wineries, distributors, and related industries.

Freezing Tolerance in the Triticeae

open access: yes, 2013
Species of the Triticeae tribe of the Poaceae, such as wheat and barley, able to acclimate to and to tolerate frost, are one of the best models for studying freezing tolerance in herbaceous, nonwoody plants. This chapter reviews in detail the genetic and genomic knowledge accumulated over the last twenty years in these model species, in terms of ...
