The Margeride granite massif (French Central Massif)

open access: yes, 1977

Endocranial anatomy of the earliest Cretaceous European neosuchian crocodyliform Pholidosaurus purbeckensis provides new evidence for the ecological evolution of Pholidosauridae

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
We present new insights into the internal cranial anatomy of the neosuchian crocodyliform Pholidosaurus purbeckensis, based on CT‐scan data of material from the lowermost Cretaceous Purbeck Limestone Group, southern UK. From the study of the endocast, we obtained new information on the phylogeny and the ecological evolution of the Family ...

Mid‐infrared spectroscopy applied to a multi‐level cave system (Montmaurin, SW France): An innovative method for assessing sediment provenance

open access: yesSedimentology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Deciphering sediment provenance is essential to understand depositional patterns and dynamics. This question is particularly important in archaeological contexts to constrain the sedimentological history of unearthed material—an information critically needed, for example, to estimate the age of the deposits—or to apprehend sediment movement ...

Des appareils photo jetables au service d´un projet de développement : représentations paysagères et stratégies des acteurs locaux de la montagne thiernoise

open access: yesCybergeo, 1998
In order to analyse how the representations of usual landscapes have had an influence on land use policy, an experiment has been conducted in the " montagne thiernoise, French massif central " with six elected people.

The Dark Star of Baisun-tau: a history of cave exploration in Southern Uzbekistan, 1990–2013 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Very little is known about the karst and caves in southern Uzbekistan, where some of the deepest caves in Asia have been discovered. In particular, the limestone plateau of the Baisun-tau mountain range has a tremendous potential for exploration.

Copy number variants and selective sweeps in natural populations of the house mouse (Mus musculus domesticus) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Copy–number variants (CNVs) may play an important role in early adaptations, potentially facilitating rapid divergence of populations. We describe an approach to study this question by investigating CNVs present in natural populations of mice in the ...

Phylogeny and Species Delimitation in the Land Snail Genus Chilostoma (Gastropoda: Helicidae) and East–West Alpine Disjunctions

open access: yesZoologica Scripta, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Chilostoma includes large, mostly rock‐dwelling snail species, widespread in the European Alps and the Apennines in Italy. We analysed the phylogenetic relationships and the species delimitation of the Chilostoma (Chilostoma) species based on genomic ddRAD loci. The Chilostoma (Chilostoma) taxa form three sister pairs. Chilostoma achates and C.

On the geothermal potential of crustal fault zones: a case study from the Pontgibaud area (French Massif Central, France)

open access: yesGeothermal Energy, 2019
The present study aims to understand the potential of a new and novel type of geothermal play system for high temperature and electricity production: crustal fault zones (CFZ).

Temperature and Dynamics of the Upper Mantle Beneath the French Massif Central

open access: yes, 1997
We introduce a new technique for the dynamic interpretation of high resolution tomographic image and apply it to the French Massif Central. Using petrological and mineral physics data, we convert an upper mantle tomographic model into a 3-D temperature distribution which is then used as input for the dynamic model.

A multidisciplinary study of a syntectonic pluton close to a major lithospheric-scale fault: relationships between the Montmarault granitic massif and the Sillon Houiller Fault in the Variscan French Massif Central. Part II: Gravity, aeromagnetic investigations and 3D geologic modeling. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
International audienceNew gravity and aeromagnetic investigations have been carried out to understand the emplacement mechanisms of a granitic pluton and the relationships with a nearby lithospheric-scale fault.
