Function-space assignment and movement simulation model for building renovation
Building renovation is an effective way to revive the use of a building, the use efficiency of which is primarily determined by its layout. However, in architectural practice, architects and building owners renovate buildings based on their personal ...

A Cluster-Based Channel Assignment Technique in IEEE 802.11 Networks
Channel assignment has become a critical configuration task in Wi-Fi networks due to the increasing number and density of devices which use the same frequency band in the radioelectric spectrum.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

The referee assignment problem [PDF]
In collaboration between a UPC spinoff, Barcelogic, and the Dutch Football Federation (KNVB), we define, study, implement and evaluate different approaches for solving the so-called Referee Assignment Problem(RAP).

Photoluminescence and spectral switching of single CdSe/ZnS colloidal nanocrystals in poly(methyl methacrylate) [PDF]
Emission from single CdSe nanocrystals in PMMA was investigated. A fraction of the nanocrystals exhibiting switching between two energy states, which have similar total intensities, but distinctly different spectra were observed.

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Models and solution techniques for frequency assignment problems [PDF]
This paper is a survey on the frequency assignment problem. This problem arises in mobile telephony, radio and TV broadcasting, satellite communication and military operations. All these applications lead to many different models and within the models to many different types of instances.

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

A Useful Metaheuristic for Dynamic Channel Assignment in Mobile Cellular Systems
The prime objective of a Channel Assignment Problem (CAP) is to assign appropriate number of required channels to each cell in a way to achieve both efficient frequency spectrum utilization and minimization of interference effects (by satisfying a number

Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.
