Broadband Optical Frequency Comb Generation With Flexible Frequency Spacing and Center Wavelength

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2018
A broadband optical frequency comb with a flexible frequency spacing and a center wavelength is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The proposed scheme consists of a single continuous-wave laser, cascaded Mach–Zehnder modulator (MZM) and ...

Femtosecond Optical Frequency Combs [PDF]

open access: yesThe European Physical Journal Special Topics, 2009
A laser frequency comb allows the conversion of the very rapid oscillations of visible light of some 100’s of THz down to frequencies that can be handled with conventional electronics. This capability has enabled the most precise laser spectroscopy experiments yet that allowed to test quantum electrodynamics, to determine fundamental constants and to ...

Dual-Comb Ranging

open access: yesEngineering, 2018
Absolute distance measurement is a fundamental technique in mobile and large-scale dimensional metrology. Dual-comb ranging is emerging as a powerful tool that exploits phase resolution and frequency accuracy for high-precision and fast-rate distance ...

Frequency comb swept lasers

open access: yesOptics Express, 2009
We demonstrate a frequency comb (FC) swept laser and a frequency comb Fourier domain mode locked (FC-FDML) laser for applications in optical coherence tomography (OCT). The fiber-based FC swept lasers operate at a sweep rate of 1kHz and 120kHz, respectively over a 135nm tuning range centered at 1310nm with average output powers of 50mW.

Aluminum nitride as nonlinear optical material for on-chip frequency comb generation and frequency conversion

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2016
A number of dielectric materials have been employed for on-chip frequency comb generation. Silicon based dielectrics such as silicon dioxide (SiO2) and silicon nitride (SiN) are particularly attractive comb materials due to their low optical loss and ...

Towards generation of optical frequency comb in the short-wavelength visible region using periodically poled lithium niobate waveguides

open access: yesResults in Optics, 2021
We demonstrate the spectral broadening of an octave-spanning erbium-based frequency comb in two types of periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) waveguides.

Phase Stabilization of a Frequency Comb using Multipulse Quantum Interferometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
From the interaction between a frequency comb and an atomic qubit, we derive quantum protocols for the determination of the carrier-envelope offset phase, using the qubit coherence as a reference, and without the need of frequency doubling or an octave ...

Cosmological frequency combs

open access: yesEurophysics Letters
Abstract We identify a new class of time-periodic attractor solutions in scalar-field cosmology, which we term Cosmological Frequency Combs (CFC). These solutions arise in exponential quintessence models with a phantom matter background and exhibit coherent phase-locked oscillations in the scalar field's normalized variables.
