A Digital Frequency Relay For Over/under Frequency Detection
TENCON '91. Region 10 International Conference on EC3-Energy, Computer, Communication and Control Systems, 2005Under frequency relays are used to shed automatically certain portion of load whenever the system frequently falls to such a low level as to threaten the stability of the power system. In this paper a very simple digital frequency relay is proposed for this purpose.

Theory of frequency modulation detection for low modulation frequencies
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1980There is general agreement that the frequency difference limen measured in a two-sine-tone frequency discrimination experiment is smaller than that measured in a frequency modulation (FM) experiment. We present a model of frequency modulation detection for low modulation frequencies, within the framework of signal detection theory, which accounts well ...

Frequency-aware Camouflaged Object Detection
ACM Transactions on Multimedia Computing, Communications, and Applications, 2023Camouflaged object detection (COD) is important as it has various potential applications. Unlike salient object detection (SOD), which tries to identify visually salient objects, COD tries to detect objects that are visually very similar to the surrounding background.

Detection of across-frequency differences in fundamental frequency
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1992Listeners discriminated between pairs of complex sounds, each consisting of two groups of components. Two harmonic complexes were played out through separate channels, and each filtered to obtain a ‘‘lower’’ and a ‘‘higher’’ group. The ‘‘carrier fundamental frequencies (F0s)’’ of both groups were usually 125 Hz; only those components in the lower group

A time-frequency approach for spike detection
10th IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits and Systems, 2003. ICECS 2003. Proceedings of the 2003, 2004This paper presents a new time frequency based spike detection technique. As spikes are broadband events with high instantaneous energy, they tend to have a larger energy than the background at high frequencies. To detect spikes, the time frequency distribution of the signal of interest is first enhanced to attenuate the noise.

Methods and tools for frequency jump detection
2009 IEEE International Workshop on Advanced Methods for Uncertainty Estimation in Measurement, 2009The prompt detection of jumps in frequency data is a topic currently receiving large attention from both the scientific and industrial communities. In fact, the frequency stability of the clock inserted in advanced telecommunication systems for synchronization purposes, has to be continuously monitored in order guarantee the target accuracy of the ...

Frequency based metamorphic malware detection
2016 24th Signal Processing and Communication Application Conference (SIU), 2016Malwares can create new malware samples which have different size, structure and operation mode but same functionality in each metamorphic code generation via malicious code obfuscation methods. So they can bypass traditional signature-based malware detection systems. In this study, a pattern recognition based system that detects metamorphic malware by

Objective response detection in the frequency domain
Electroencephalography and Clinical Neurophysiology/Evoked Potentials Section, 1993Several different and related measures have been proposed for objective response detection in the frequency domain. We compared magnitude-squared coherence (MSC) to phase coherence (PC) using simulations with specified signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) and varying numbers of subaverages; the performance measure was area under a receiver operating ...

MULTI-FREQUENCY ICE DETECTION SYSTEM
Sensors and Microsystems, 2008This paper presents the design and performance evaluation of a new sensor system for detecting the presence of water or ice films on its surface. The system is based on a multifrequency capacitive measurement and the effect that water and ice have different dielectric constants.

Frequency tuned salient edge detection
2011 24th Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering(CCECE), 2011This paper presents a novel method for salient edge detection based on the frequency tuning principle. Limiting the operation to a single wavelet sub-band, the frequency components of the wavelet are analyzed. The average value in each frequency component (horizontal, vertical, and diagonal) is computed and subtracted from each pixel in its respective ...
