A time frequency approach to CFAR detection

2011 IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology (ISSPIT), 2011
Simultaneous analysis of signals in time and frequency domains is a standard approach in many signal processing applications including some detection. Parameters of clutter, noise and interference, and in some cases Doppler specifications, are the basis for most of current CFAR target detection techniques.

Multi-frequency transformation for edge detection

Proceedings of the 27th Conference on Image and Vision Computing New Zealand, 2012
This paper investigates the use of a multi-frequency transformation for edge detection. Most edge detectors are good at detecting non-texture edges, but have problems with texture edges. In order to detect texture edges, prior knowledge is usually required to avoid heavy computational cost. In this study, a fast and simple transformation based on multi-

Analysis of heterodyne detection in the frequency domain

Applied Optics, 2015
As opposed to previous works, our research on heterodyne detection is performed in the frequency domain. Based on the planar wave, it is pointed out that the current amplitude of a heterodyne signal is proportional to the spectrum value of the quantum efficiency function of a detector, and the frequency corresponding to the value is decided by the beam'

Explosives detection with a frequency modulation spectrometer

Applied Optics, 1996
An explosives detection instrument was designed and tested at SRI International. The instrument uses frequency modulation spectroscopy with midinfrared lead-salt diode lasers to perform high-sensitivity detection of characteristic nitrogen-containing decomposition products of explosives.

Detection of Sinusoidal Signals in Frequency Domain

2006 CIE International Conference on Radar, 2006
Periodogram is a simple and efficient way to detect and estimate parameters of sinusoidal signals. In this paper, we evaluate the detection performance of the periodogram and its variants such as Bartlett, Welch methods, and a proposed Bartlett-based method.

Flexible algorithm for frequency tone detection

2012 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference Proceedings, 2012
This paper discusses a specific technique for frequency tone detection. Based on a modified DFT series equation, the algorithm provides to enlarge a portion of spectrum of the acquired signal. It starts from an arbitrary point and length, and then individuates the fine peak position. After the theory description, the implemented algorithm is described.

Noncoherent Detection of Tamed Frequency Modulation

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1984
Continuous-phase, constant-envelope digital modulation schemes are useful in various applications where a high spectrum utilization as well as immunity to nonlinear distortion is required. From this point of view, typical efficient schemes are digital partialresponse frequency modulation methods.

Spatial-frequency selectivity in contrast detection

Vision Research, 1975
Abstract Psychophysical experiments were performed to determine the spatial-frequency-response characteristics of contrast detection channels in the human visual system. The response characteristics, as a function of displacement from the channel center frequency, are shown to be independent of center frequency in the range 5–20 c/deg.

Detecting coherent and incoherent frequency modulation

Hearing Research, 2000
Three experiments investigated whether or not the auditory system contains a neural mechanism that is sensitive to differences in the pattern of frequency modulation imposed on widely separated carriers. Experiment 1 measured the discrimination between an unmodulated two-tone complex and one in which either coherent or incoherent frequency modulation ...
