Frequency Diverse Array Radars
2006 IEEE Conference on Radar, 2006This paper presents a generalized structure for a frequency diverse array radar. In its simplest form, the frequency diverse array applies a linear phase progression across the aperture. This linear phase progression induces an electronic beam scan, as in a conventional phased array.

Spatially resolving antenna arrays using frequency diversity
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2016Radio imaging devices and synthetic aperture radar typically use either mechanical scanning or phased arrays to illuminate a target with spatially varying radiation patterns. Mechanical scanning is unsuitable for many high-speed imaging applications, and phased arrays contain many active components and are technologically and cost prohibitive at ...

Frequency diverse array radar receiver architectures
2012 International Waveform Diversity & Design Conference (WDD), 2012Frequency diverse array radar utilizes the principle of superposition to cohere energy, in a novel fashion, to achieve range dependent spatial patterns. While the theory for transmit spatial patterns has been developed, the need for efficient receiver design architectures persists.

Energy Focusing through Layout-based Frequency-Diverse Arrays
2019 IEEE Wireless Power Transfer Conference (WPTC), 2019This paper offers a computationally efficient strategy for the delicate analysis of frequency-diverse arrays. This family of radiating systems shows a radiation mechanism dependent on both angle and range thanks to the different frequency radiated by each array element: for this reason, it can simultaneously focus and steer its beam, thus providing a ...

Cognitive frequency offset calculation for frequency diverse array radar
2015 12th International Bhurban Conference on Applied Sciences and Technology (IBCAST), 2015Frequency diverse array (FDA) radars have the ability to generate a beam pattern that is a function of range angle and time. The wavy beam pattern can be controlled by using a suitable frequency increment applied at the input of the array elements. Instead of using fixed frequency increment for FDA, we propose a cognitive frequency offset calculation ...

Manifold Sensitivity Analysis of Frequency Diverse Array
IEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2020Frequency diverse array (FDA) is an emerging array technique, its essential array characteristics and corresponding potential applications have not been well studied. As array manifold plays an essential role in various array applications, this letter presents an FDA manifold sensitivity framework to analyze the impact of element position uncertainties.

Robust Frequency Diverse Array Beamformer via Random Frequency Offset
2019 IEEE International Conference on Signal, Information and Data Processing (ICSIDP), 2019In this paper, we consider the issues of mainlobe interference and periodic mainlobes in frequency diverse array (FDA) radar. In existing methods for FDA radar with uniform inter-element frequency offset, the beampattern presents multiple peaks in range dimension, which leads to lower energy at target position.

Adaptive Frequency Offset Selection in Frequency Diverse Array Radar
IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, 2014Frequency diverse array (FDA) can provide a range-angle-dependent beam that can be controlled by using a frequency increment between adjacent elements, but the frequency increment is fixed in a basic FDA, which restraints the performance improvement in different environments significantly.

Frequency Diverse Array Beamforming Using Nonuniform Logarithmic Frequency Increments
IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, 2018Unlike a conventional phased array that offers directivity only in the angle domain, a frequency diverse array (FDA) is capable of producing a beampattern that is dependent on both angle and range. In this letter, a transmit beamforming method for an FDA is proposed that uses logarithmic frequency increments that have a nonuniform spacing.

Frequency Diverse Array Radar Data Processing
2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR), 2018The frequency diverse array (FDA) radar has recently been proposed. However, what left behind is how the FDA data should be correctly, efficiently and systematically processed to maximise its full potential and capacity of search and detection. This paper fills the gap.
