Penalized estimation of haplotype frequencies [PDF]
AbstractMotivation: Low haplotype diversity and linkage disequilibrium are the rule in short genomic segments. This fact suggests that parsimony should be enforced in estimation of haplotype frequencies. The current article introduces a diversity penalty that automatically discards potential haplotypes with low explanatory power.

ABSTRACT Purpose Pediatric central nervous system (CNS) tumors often recur despite multimodality therapy. Although re‐irradiation (re‐RT) has historically been limited by concerns for severe late toxicities, modern techniques have renewed interest in this approach. Proton therapy provides dosimetric advantages that may enable curative re‐treatment with

Frequency-Locked Loop Based on a Repetitive Controller for Grid Synchronization Systems
The frequency-locked loop based on a second-order generalized integrator has been widely used in grid synchronization systems but featuring unfavorable harmonics filtering performance. To solve this issue, a frequency-locked loop based on multiple second-

Estimation of generalised frequency response functions [PDF]
Volterra series theory has a wide application in the representation, analysis, design and control of nonlinear systems. A new method of estimating the Volterra kernels in the frequency domain is introduced based on a non-parametric algorithm. Unlike the

Optimal Window and Lattice in Gabor Transform Application to Audio Analysis
This article deals with the use of optimal lattice and optimal window in Discrete Gabor Transform computation. In the case of a generalized Gaussian window, extending earlier contributions, we introduce an additional local window adaptation technique for

On the robustness of the average power ratios in damping estimation: application in the structural health monitoring of composites beams [PDF]
In composites structures, cracking, delamination will cause changes in the measured dynamic response of structure and so on experimentally modal parameters.

ABSTRACT Background Survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) often exhibit early deficits in muscle and movement competence, which can compromise long‐term health. Integrative neuromuscular training (INT), a multifaceted approach combining fundamental movement activities with strength exercises, may help address these deficits during ...

Reciprocal translocations in cattle: frequency estimation [PDF]
SummaryChromosomal anomalies, like Robertsonian and reciprocal translocations, represent a big problem in cattle breeding as their presence induces, in the carrier subjects, a well‐documented fertility reduction. In cattle, reciprocal translocations (RCPs, a chromosome abnormality caused by an exchange of material between non‐homologous chromosomes ...

ABSTRACT Treatment‐associated hepatotoxicity (TAH) is a common complication of pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) treatment, but genetic risk factors remain poorly understood. We evaluated the SOD2 rs4880 variant in 544 children with ALL at Texas Children's Hospital. After adjusting for demographic and clinical covariates, the rs4880 C allele

Estimating probabilities from experimental frequencies [PDF]
Estimating the probability distribution 'q' governing the behaviour of a certain variable by sampling its value a finite number of times most typically involves an error. Successive measurements allow the construction of a histogram, or frequency count 'f', of each of the possible outcomes. In this work, the probability that the true distribution be 'q'
