Kalman interpolation filter for channel estimation of LTE downlink in high-mobility environments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The estimation of fast-fading LTE downlink channels in high-speed applications of LTE advanced is investigated in this article. In order to adequately track the fast time-varying channel response, an adaptive channel estimation and interpolation ...

On frequency estimation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper discusses a least-squares procedure and the use of the periodogram for isolating a discrete harmonic of a time series. It is shown that the usual asymptotics on estimation of frequency, amplitude and phase of such a harmonic have to be used with great caution from a moderate sample perspective.

Estimating a frequency unseen: an application to ornithology [PDF]

open access: yesStatistica Neerlandica, 2005
The second author is involved in a capture–mark–recapture study of some wader species. Part of his program deals with resight observations. On a particular day he visually inspects a fairly stable population to identify the ringed birds by reading their ring‐number. Some ringed birds will be missed, so observations are repeated on other days. The issue

Increased Risk of Sarcomas in Children With Congenital Anomalies: Findings From the Genetic Overlap Between Anomalies and Cancer in Kids (GOBACK) Registry Linkage Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric sarcomas are a heterogeneous group of tumors that contribute disproportionately to cancer mortality in children. Although congenital anomalies are among the strongest known risk factors for childhood cancer, the risk of specific sarcoma subtypes among affected individuals has not yet been thoroughly evaluated. Procedure We

Power System Inertia Estimation Using Synchrophasor Frequency Measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
A method includes performing by a processor: receiving a first plurality of power system frequency measurements from a plurality of phasor measurement units (PMUs) in the power system over a first time interval, generating a first plurality of multi ...

Therapeutic Apheresis in Nigeria: A Multi‐Center Summary of Abstracts From the Inaugural Nigerian Society for Apheresis Scientific Meeting

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic apheresis (TA) is an established treatment modality for hematologic, neurologic, and immunologic disorders, yet access remains severely limited in sub‐Saharan Africa. Donor apheresis, including platelet apheresis collection from healthy donors, represents an important complementary modality supporting blood product ...

Ubiquitous log odds: a common representation of probability and frequency distortion in perception, action and cognition

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2012
In decision from experience, the source of probability information affects how probability is distorted in the decision task. Understanding how and why probability is distorted is a key issue in understanding the peculiar character of experience-based ...

Three‐phase algorithm for independent single‐phase grid frequency estimation under grid disturbances

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution, 2023
This paper reports an algorithm for quick and precise estimation of the single‐phase grid frequency under DC offset and both odd and even harmonics. The proposed single‐phase grid frequency estimation method is derived from a three‐phase relation.

Prognosis of Long‐Term Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and the Impact of Combined Continuous Intravenous Sodium Infusion Therapy

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients requiring long‐term continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) generally have poor prognoses. This study evaluated whether adding continuous intravenous sodium infusion (cIVNa) is associated with improved hemodynamics and outcomes in patients undergoing long‐term CRRT for ≥ 7 days.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative
