Frequency‐independent Sound Absorbing Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, 2023
AbstractInspired by the concept of frequency‐independent antennas in the electromagnetics, which theoretically exhibit a frequency‐independent bandwidth, this paper extends the concept to acoustics by adopting a log‐spiral and its modified shape to introduce a class of metamaterials called frequency‐independent sound‐absorbing metamaterials.

A Novel Technique for Load Frequency Control of Multi-Area Power Systems [PDF]

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
In this paper, an adaptive type-2 fuzzy controller is proposed to control the load frequency of a two-area power system based on descending gradient training and error back-propagation. The dynamics of the system are completely uncertain.

Sampling Frequency Independent Dialogue Separation [PDF]

open access: yes2022 30th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO), 2022
In some DNNs for audio source separation, the relevant model parameters are independent of the sampling frequency of the audio used for training. Considering the application of dialogue separation, this is shown for two DNN architectures: a U-Net and a fully-convolutional model. The models are trained with audio sampled at 8 kHz. The learned parameters

Operational reliability assessment considering independency between wind power ramps and frequency sensitive loads [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2021
With the increasing wind power penetration, power system frequency is more vulnerable especially when gust wind periods. Frequency control is used to restore system frequency back to the rated value.

Frequency independent damped outrigger systems for multi‐mode seismic control of super tall buildings with frequency independent negative stiffness enhancement

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering & Structural Dynamics, 2023
Damped outrigger system is effective for improving energy dissipation for tall buildings. However, conventional damped outrigger (CDO) system with viscous damping has two limitations: (i) its maximum damping ratio cannot be improved when outrigger/column

A Frequency Independent Phase Shifter

open access: yesAcoustics, 2023
A frequency-independent phase shift is determined such that two phase shifted versions of a signal can be summed whereby the resulting amplitude spectrum is unchanged. A phase difference between two signals is thus defined which remains constant for all frequencies within a given range.
