A Precision Audio-Frequency Voltage Regulator

Instrumentation Science & Technology, 1971
Abstract : A source of precisely known alternating voltages is described. The output remains constant to within 0.1% for variation of plus or minus 40% in the input voltage (frequencies between 30 Hz and 4 kHz). The principle of operation is based on negative feedback, using a light-emitting diode and photosensitive resistor to control the gain.

Optimal Battery Sizing for Frequency Regulation and Energy Arbitrage

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2021
This paper proposes an optimization methodology for sizing and operating battery energy storage systems (BESS) in distribution networks. A BESS optimal operation for both frequency regulation and energy arbitrage, constrained by battery state-of-charge ...

Adaptive Power Point Tracking Control of PV System for Primary Frequency Regulation of AC Microgrid With High PV Integration

IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2021
With the increasing integration of PV generation in AC microgrids, it is challenging to keep the stability of system frequency due to the intermittent and stochastic nature of PVs.

Allocation of frequency regulation services

DRPT2000. International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies. Proceedings (Cat. No.00EX382), 2002
A novel concept for directly quantifying the value of frequency regulation services of individual generators is proposed in this paper. Individual generator dynamics are explicitly incorporated into the optimisation problem as constraints, which allowed the frequency fluctuations to be also directly monitored and controlled. The approach eliminates the

Flight frequency regulation and its temporal implications

Transport Policy, 2022
In this study, four distinct approaches for flight frequency regulation are investigated with the objective to mitigate network congestion. The approaches differ in the way how a specific number of daily flights on a route is determined: (1) directly regulating the number of flights, (2) defining an average air traffic flow management (ATFM) delay ...

Scheduled Power Control and Autonomous Energy Control of Grid-Connected Energy Storage System (ESS) With Virtual Synchronous Generator and Primary Frequency Regulation Capabilities

IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2022
This paper presents a combined control scheme for the grid-connected energy storage system (ESS). There are two control modes: the power control mode for the charging or discharging condition and the energy control mode for the stand-by condition. In the

A Novel Deep Reinforcement Learning Controller Based Type-II Fuzzy System: Frequency Regulation in Microgrids

IEEE Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computational Intelligence, 2021
The high-penetration of distributed generation technologies in the form of MicroGrids (MGs), in recent years, has increased the risk of frequency instability since their energy is supplied by renewable energy resources (RESs) with uncertain nature. Under

Frequency modulated switching regulator

1979 IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference, 1979
A novel switching regulator power supply is described which uses frequency modulation to accomplish duty factor control. The circuit resembles a choke-fed dc-dc converter. A distinguishing feature is that the output transformer is designed purposely to saturate.
