Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Frequency response of gas turbine condition monitoring system

open access: yes, 1999
The work reported in this thesis is concerned with the Condition Monitoring by using Generalised Frequency Response Function. Two types of nonlinear models are discussed but the attention is focussed on a nonlinear model called NARX (Nonlinear ...

Generalised Frequency Response Function Matrix for MIMO Nonlinear Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Recursive algorithms are derived to compute the generalised frequency response function matrix of multi-input multi-output (MIMO) nonlinear systems as an analytical map from both nonlinear differential equation models and NARX (nonlinear autoregressive ...

Delamination Detection via Reconstructed Frequency Response Function of Composite Structures

open access: yes, 2019
Online damage detection technologies could reduce the weight of structures by allowing the use of less conservative margins of safety. They are also associated with high economical benefits by implementing a condition-based maintenance system. This paper

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Finite-parameter approximations to frequency response function

open access: yes, 1977
We consider estimation of the frequency response function, β~(λ), between two discrete time series, over a subset of the sampling frequencies. We approximate β~(λ) be a linear combination of continuous, complex functions of λ, with unknown coefficients ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Frequency Domain Modeling of High Voltage Transformers Using a Nonlinear Least-Square Estimation Technique

open access: yes, 2009
The development of transformer models can be achieved based on experimental frequency response measurements providing access to the windings is available and the physical dimensions are known in order to calculate R, L and C parameter values. Of interest

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...
