Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Hybrid Sensor Placement Framework Using Criterion-Guided Candidate Selection and Optimization

open access: yesSensors
This study presents a hybrid sensor placement methodology that combines criterion-based candidate selection with advanced optimization algorithms. Four established selection criteria—modal kinetic energy (MKE), modal strain energy (MSE), modal assurance ...

Fuel Cell Frequency Response Function Modeling for Control Applications

open access: yes, 2010
This paper provides the framework for first-order transfer function modeling of a fuel cell for controls use. It is shown that under specific conditions a fuel cell can be modeled as a first-order system.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Computation of transfer function data from frequency response data with application to data-based root-locus

open access: yes, 2015
This paper describes the computation and use of transfer function data (TFD) computed from frequency response data of a system. TFD can be regarded as a sampled, data-based representation of the transfer function.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Uncertainty Quantification Analysis of Dynamic Responses in Plate Structures Based on a Physics-Informed CVAE Model

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The propagation of uncertainties in structural dynamic responses, arising from variations in material properties, geometry, and boundary conditions, is of critical concern to researchers in a variety of engineering instances.
