Finite frequency selective surface modelling

open access: yesThe 8th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP 2014), 2014
In this paper we describe the development of an electromagnetic modelling technique to investigate edge illumination effects on finite size FSS performance. The work extends the commonly used unit cell approach and models the FSS as a linear array with Gaussian beam excitation.

A High-Selective Frequency Selective Surface With Hybrid Unit Cells

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
In this paper, a novel frequency selective surface (FSS) is proposed. It has two metal layers and the configurations of the unit cells of these two layers are different, so-called hybrid unit cells. The designed FSS has three transmission zeros and steep

Convoluted double square: single layer FSS with close band spacings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
A novel element provides reflection band ratios as low as 1.1. It is derived from the double square but is less demanding on printing definition. Together, the two elements offer increased flexibility in Frequency selective surface design for close band ...

Frequency Selective Surface-Based Switched-Beamforming Antenna

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
A novel switched-beamforming antenna designed using active frequency selective surfaces (AFSS) is presented. The antenna consists of two parts: a source with an omnidirectional radiation pattern and a novel active triangular frequency selective surface ...

Traditional Frequency Selective Surface versus Substrate Integrated Waveguide Frequency Selective Surface [PDF]

open access: yesUniversal Journal of Communications and Network, 2014
This paper is devoted to analysis design and fabrication of both traditional and substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) frequency selective surfaces (FSS) of square elements and square lattice. The transmission loss is studied for different angle of incidence; normal, thirty, forty five and sixty degrees.

Realization of a semiconductor-based cavity soliton laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The realization of a cavity soliton laser using a vertical-cavity surface-emitting semiconductor gain structure coupled to an external cavity with a frequency-selective element is reported.

Drifting instabilities of cavity solitons in vertical cavity surface-emitting lasers with frequency selective feedback [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper we study the formation and dynamics of self-propelled cavity solitons (CSs) in a model for vertical cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) subjected to external frequency selective feedback (FSF), and build their bifurcation diagram for ...

A single-layer tuneable microwave absorber using an active FSS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
An experimental single-layer active microwave absorber in described. The absorber is a planar structure based upon the topology of a Salisbury screen, but in which the conventional resistive layer is replaced by an active frequency selective surface (FSS)
