Broadbanding Techniques Based on Frequency Selective Surfaces (FSS)

2020
Radome wall configurations have to be modified in order to attain better performance parameters such as high transmission efficiency, low cross-polarization levels, low boresight error, etc., which is an arduous task. Conventional methods followed to obtain better EM performance parameters over a broadband of frequencies are use of thin parallel ...

Magnetically tunable graphene patch frequency selective surface (FSS)

2015 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation & USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting, 2015
In this paper, the free-standing graphene patch frequency selective surface is modelled by an equivalent tensorial surface conductivity. The rotation angle and total transmission amplitude are then predicted for normal incidence with different values of the biasing magnetic field.

FSS-Tag

Proceedings of the ACM on Interactive, Mobile, Wearable and Ubiquitous Technologies, 2023
Material sensing is crucial in many emerging applications, such as waste classification and hazardous material detection. Although existing Radio Frequency (RF) signal based systems achieved great success, they have limited identification accuracy when either RF signals can not penetrate through a target or a target has different outer and inner ...

Compact Directive Antennas Using Frequency-Selective Surfaces (FSS)

2005 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings, 2006
This paper presents a theoretical, numerical and experimental study for the design of three-dimensional directive antennas for microwave telecommunications (KU-band: 12-18 GHz) applications. These antennas are resonant cavities surrounded by a metallic ground plane and a metallic grid, which acts as a frequency-selective surface (FSS). These structures

Design of Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) for 6G communications

International Science and Technology Journal
We propose a quartz-supported frequency selective surface (FSS) for 6G communication, featuring a gear-shaped metallic array on a single layer. The transmission characteristics are investigated using full-wave simulation and the equivalent circuit method.

Design of a new active frequency selective surface(FSS)

Proceedings of 2014 3rd Asia-Pacific Conference on Antennas and Propagation, 2014
Ordinary active frequency selective surface (AFSS) was thought to consist of slots etched on one side of a substrate, with the biasing circuit on the other side. In this paper, a new AFSS without biasing circuit is proposed, the inductive voltage produced by incident wave become bias control signal of the lumped active device.

Simulation research of band-pass frequency selective surfaces (FSS) radome

2016 Progress in Electromagnetic Research Symposium (PIERS), 2016
The band-pass FSS radome can efficiently reduce the radar cross section (RCS) of the antenna because of its excellent transmission characteristics, i.e., flat top and sharp fall-off, which is especially applicable for stealth antenna technology. Due to the transmission advantage of the hexagon loop, the simulation software of Ansoft HFSS based on the ...

Simulation of frequency selective surfaces (FSS) using 3D-TLM

3rd International Conference on Computation in Electromagnetics (CEM 96), 1996
Two dimensional periodic arrays of patch elements can be used as frequency selective surfaces (FSS) owing to the frequency filtering properties of these structures. Arrays of square loops are of interest as frequency selective surfaces for dichroic reflector antennas.

Modeling of magnetically biased graphene patch frequency selective surface (FSS)

2015 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Advanced Materials and Processes for RF and THz Applications (IMWS-AMP), 2015
A free-standing magnetically biased graphene patch frequency selective surface (FSS) is modelled in this paper. Its transmission coefficients of co- and cross-polarizations can be obtained with an equivalent tensorial surface conductivity. Then, the rotation angle for normal incidence is explored with different values of biasing magnetic field B 0 ...
