Wideband versatile radio-frequency spectrum analyzer

Optics Letters, 2003
Operation of a wideband, versatile optical spectrum analyzer for radio-frequency (RF) signals is demonstrated. The device is based on spectral hole burning (SHB). The demonstration features 2.3-GHz instantaneous bandwidth, 500-kHz resolution, and a 32-dB dynamic range. A true RF signal, transferred to the optical carrier with the help of a Mach-Zehnder

Exponential Frequency Spectrum in Magnetized Plasmas

Physical Review Letters, 2008
Measurements of a magnetized plasma with a controlled electron temperature gradient show the development of a broadband spectrum of density and temperature fluctuations having an exponential frequency dependence at frequencies below the ion cyclotron frequency.

Frequency-division spread-spectrum makes frequency synchronisation easy

2012 IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM), 2012
Frequency division spread spectrum system (FD/S3) has been recently proposed, which uses frequency domain spreading codes and can allow frequency offsets between users. Motivated by the conventional time-domain code acquisition, we propose a frequency (F)-domain code acquisition method using time (T)-domain integrator, which permits frequency offset ...

Radio-Frequency Spectrum Analyzers

Proceedings of the IRE, 1946
The resolving power of radio-frequency spectrum analyzers of the continuously tuned type is defined as the width in frequency, at points 3 decibels down, of the trace of a continuous-wave signal. The optimum resolving power is 1.3√F/T, in which F is the frequency band scanned, and T the period of one scan. Traces of pulse-modulated, frequency-modulated,
