Surveying Biodiverse Coral Reef Ecosystems Across the Tree of Life With Environmental DNA
ABSTRACT A central challenge in evaluating biodiversity using environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding is that each primer set has biases resulting in selective amplification of taxonomic diversity. Here we test 11 primer pairs to assess Central Pacific coral reef diversity in the five kingdoms of marine eukaryotes: Chromista, Fungi, Metazoa, Plantae and

Biofilm Source Shapes the Tolerance to Short‐Term Ciprofloxacin Exposure
Biofilms sourced downstream of a wastewater treatment plant showed greater tolerance to ciprofloxacin than upstream‐sourced communities. The results suggest that environmental history and community composition influence freshwater biofilm responses to antibiotic stress.

Cross Kingdom Metabolic Engineering Paradigm Elevating Sustainable Protein Production
ABSTRACT Confronting the dual crisis of escalating global protein demand and unsustainable agriculture necessitates transformative solutions. Here, we pioneer evolutionary insights from maize nitrogen optimization via asparagine synthetase (ASNS) to rewire metabolism in Pichia pastoris.

EFFECTS OF WOOD ON THE GROWTH OF LIGNICOLOUS FRESHWATER FUNGI
The addition of cottonwood and ash sapwood powder to YPSSl2 medium influenced the mycelial growth of 13 species of freshwater lignicolous Ascomycetes and Hyphornycetes. These species fall into three groups with respect to their responses to the presence of leached or non-leached wood powder.

Abstract Climate change is exerting profound and multidimensional pressures on global wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) production. Rising temperatures, higher vapor pressure deficit, and more frequent heatwaves reduce yields through strong, phenology‐dependent effects, with flowering and grain filling identified as the most vulnerable stages. Compound heat–

Estimating Dispersal Kernels for Stream Periphyton Using Drifting Lake Algae
Summary of methods and procedures organized by aim and specific objectives. Drifting lake algae used as a proxy for periphyton dispersal. ABSTRACT Dispersal patterns are a key component of many ecological and evolutionary processes, yet they remain understudied in microbial species due to technical challenges.

Checklists and their importance for recording freshwater vascular plants: the British experience
The value of a checklist when recording the species composition of freshwater macrophyte communities has been recognised for over 30 years, yet studies are still published that fail to refer to a specific checklist. This review demonstrates how the
