Temporal Persistence of Vertebrate Airborne Environmental DNA in a Natural Open‐Air Setting
Airborne detection of a single known DNA source under natural outdoor conditions ceased 3 days after source removal, indicating that airborne eDNA primarily reflects recent animal presence rather than a lasting trace. These findings offer key insights for optimizing field deployment of airborne eDNA sampling.

Lithium for rechargeable batteries is increasingly extracted from brines in high‐Andean salars. Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) technologies are promoted as sustainable alternatives to conventional evaporation ponds. This work explores how brine modification and reinjection may affect microbial communities and ecosystem functioning, highlighting the ...

Recurrent Body Shape Patterns in Cave‐ and Surface‐Dwelling Trichomycterid Catfishes
Multivariate shape analyses reveal that body shape consistently differs between cave‐ and surface‐dwelling trichomycterids in northeastern Colombia, with cave species exhibiting fusiform bodies while surface species showed deeper shapes consistently in different clades.

ABSTRACT Cold plasma (CP), a nonthermal ionised gas rich in reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS), has emerged as a sustainable technology for enhancing legume production and quality. This review summarises current advances in CP applications in legumes, focusing on seed germination, seedling vigour, nutrient enhancement, antinutrient reduction ...

Abstract Terrestrial subsidies shape aquatic ecosystem structure and function, serving as important energy channels for consumers when phytoplankton and other autochthonous resources are limited. Despite this, quantifying the assimilation of allochthonous nutrients by aquatic consumers can be challenging. Here, we show terrestrial plants, benthic algae,

Abstract Assigning taxonomic identity and thus assessing taxonomic diversity in gelatinous zooplankton is challenging due to their fragility and difficult preservation. Formalin fixation compromises DNA integrity, while flash‐freezing, ethanol, and acetone preservation affect morphological features. In this study, we developed a methodological protocol

Ecological theory has been shaped disproportionately by studies conducted in young, disturbance‐prone, relatively fertile landscapes (YODFELs), mostly in the Global North. Yet, many megadiverse regions in the Global South are dominated by old, climatically buffered, infertile landscapes (OCBILs), resulting in fundamentally different patterns that ...

Geese as vectors of nitrogen and phosphorous to freshwater systems
Many goose populations have increased dramatically over the past decades, which may influence inland waters used as roost sites. We reviewed the role of geese in the influx of nitrogen and phosphorus to freshwater systems.
