Microsphere Autolithography—A Scalable Approach for Arbitrary Patterning of Dielectric Spheres

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MicroSphere Autolithography (µSAL) enables scalable fabrication of patchy particles with customizable surface motifs. Focusing light through dielectric microspheres creates well defined, tunable patches via a conformal poly(dopamine) photoresist. Nearly arbitrary surface patterns can be achieved, with the resolution set by the index contrast between ...

Three‐dimensional Antimony Sulfide Based Flat Optics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents the development of a grayscale electron beam lithography (g‐EBL) method for fabricating antimony trisulfide (Sb2S3) nanostructures with customizable 3D profiles. The refractive index of g‐EBL patterned Sb2S3 is determined based on the synergy of genetic algorithm and transfer matrix method.

High Entropy Wide‐Bandgap Borates with Broadband Luminescence and Large Nonlinear Optical properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
High‐entropy rare‐earth borates exhibit excellent nonlinear optical and broadband luminescence properties arising from multi‐component doping, chemical disorder, increased configurational entropy, and increased lattice and electronic anharmonicity. This formulation enabled us to obtain a large, environmentally stable single crystal with 3X higher laser‐

Programmable In‐Situ Interactions Between Resins and Photopolymerized Structures for Seamlessly Integrated Optical Manufacturing of Microlenses

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a dynamic interaction between liquid resins and photopolymerized structures enabled by an in situ light‐writing setup. By controlling a three‐phase interface through localized photopolymerization, which provides physical confinement for the remaining uncured resin regions, the approach establishes a programmable pathway that ...

External Reflection From Two‐Photon Laser‐Printed Micromirrors Enables Photomechanical Actuation at a 90° Incident Angle

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Light reflectance increases along incidence angle and transmittance significantly drops around 90‐degree incidence angle. Here, we report two‐photon laser printed micro mirrors that redirect the skimming light beam into normal light absorption. Using this technique, light‐driven micro walkers and grippers are demonstrated by using grazing incidence ...

Novel Functional Materials via 3D Printing by Vat Photopolymerization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This Perspective systematically analyzes strategies for incorporating functionalities into 3D‐printed materials via Vat Photopolymerization (VP). It explores the spectrum of achievable functionalities in recently reported novel materials—such as conductive, energy‐storing, biodegradable, stimuli‐responsive, self‐healing, shape‐memory, biomaterials, and

Propagation of Partially Coherent Flat-Topped Vortex Hollow Beams in Anisotropic Turbulent Plasma

open access: yesInternational Journal of Optics, 2022
The propagation properties of partially coherent circular flat-topped (FT) vortex hollow/nonvortex beams are studied in anisotropic turbulent plasma. The analytical expression of the optical intensity of these beams is obtained by employing the extended ...

Second-Order Statistics of Partially Coherent Beams with Laguerre Non-Uniform Coherence Properties under Turbulence

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
We use the extended Huygens–Fresnel integral to analyze the propagation properties of a class of partially coherent beams with Laguerre non-uniform coherence properties (called Laguerre non-uniformly correlated beams) in free space and in a turbulent ...
