Evaluation of Bruised Plum Quality Using Laser Induced Diffuse Reflectance Imaging

open access: yesJournal of Food Process Engineering, Volume 49, Issue 4, April 2026.
Plums were subjected to bruising by falling from 1 m height. A laser line illuminated the surface and intensity distribution was captured. After curve fitting and statistical evaluation, firmness and SSC were predicted. ABSTRACT Mechanical damage affects the quality of harvested fruit.

The Interplay of Magnetic Order with the Electronic Scattering and Crystal‐Field Effects in a Metallic Ferromagnet

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 13, 3 March 2026.
The interplay between magnetic ordering and crystal electric field (CEF) excitations plays a pivotal role in defining the low‐energy electrodynamics of quantum materials. By probing the temperature‐dependent THz conductivity in a rare‐earth‐based metallic ferromagnet, we uncover a microscopic connection between localized and itinerant electrons ...

The use of liquid crystal adaptive optics devices in astronomy [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
Images obtained from large astronomical telescopes are distorted and blurred by the effects of the atmosphere. In order to compensate for this, an adaptive optics system can be incorporated downstream from the telescope focus.

Two-dimensional Optics With Surface Electromagnetic Waves [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
Two-dimensional optical effects were observed for surface electromagnetic waves (SEW) on metals at X = 3.55 cm. Refractive processes with prisms and lenses established Snell\u27s law experimentally. Reflection with prisms and metal sheets established the

Effect of using prismatic eye lenses on the posture of patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis measured by 3-D motion analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
This is a preliminary investigation to detect the body sway and postural changes of patients with AIS under different spatial images. Two pairs of low-power prismatic eye lenses (Fresnel prisms) with 5 dioptre and 10 dioptre were used. In the experiment,
