Mechanisms of Fretting Fatigue

open access: yesJSME international journal. Ser. A, Mechanics and material engineering, 1995
Fretting fatigue is one of the most important phenomena for inducing a dramatic reduction of fatigue strength and consequently, of unexpected failure accidents. There are numerous works on fretting fatigue. The objective of the present review is to clarify fretting fatigue mechanisms based on the vast amount of research work.

机车电机小齿轮轴油槽结构优化的有限元分析

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2012
The failure of pinion shaft of traction motor is induced by the rotary bending fretting fatigue at the edge of oil groove. In this study,ABAQUS finite element soft was used to simulate the influence of the rounding radius on fatigue life, and SWT ...

TRANSITION IN THE FRETTING PHENOMENON [PDF]

open access: yesFiabilitate şi Durabilitate, 2017
Fretting is now fully identified as a small amplitude oscillatory motion which induces a harmonic tangential force between two surfaces in contact. It is related to three main loadings, i.e.

Fretting Fatigue Behavior under Tension–Bending Mixed-Mode Loading

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The mixed-mode loading fretting fatigue caused by the complex geometry of components and combinations of boundary conditions is a common failure mechanism in engineering components, which can dramatically reduce fatigue life. In this paper, a cylinder-on-

Evaluation of an operating MOD-OA 200 kW wind turbine blade [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
Operating loads and structural damage were monitored during operation of the MOD-OA electric generating system. The turbine was damaged locally between stations 48 and 125 after 2.8 million rotations.

Length Scale Considerations in Fretting Fatigue

open access: yes, 2000
The presence of fretting can be shown to decrease the fatigue life of a component by accelerating crack initiation and subsequent propagation. Behavior in the “long crack” regime may be adequately explained using linear-elastic fracture mechanics. In contrast crack initiation is complex and much more difficult to understand.

CONTRIBUTIONS REGARDING FRETTING FATIGUE [PDF]

open access: yesFiabilitate şi Durabilitate, 2013
Fretting phenomenon is a complex deterioration phenomenon that can be found in most technicalapplications which require the existence of contacts undergoing a small amplitude oscillatory motion.

Evaluation of RSRM case hardware fretting concerns [PDF]

open access: yes
Fretting corrosion was first noted on Shuttle flight STS-26. This flight was the first usage of the Redesigned Solid Rocket Motor (RSRM). The occurrence of fretting has since been observed on both the field and factory joints of the RSRM.

Characterization Of Fretting Fatigue of 7075-T6 Aluminium Alloy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The main aim of the research work is to present theoretical and experimental approaches to the problem of fretting fatigue using 7075-T6 aluminum alloy as a specimen and En24 steel as a pad.
