Frictional behavior of commercial graphites

Carbon, 1974
Abstract Coefficient of friction of commerical grades of polycrystalline graphites against deoxidized high phosphorus copper has been measured in an inert atmosphere at 10−5 mm Hg pressure. Graphites with large particles have a coefficient of friction of 0·48 at room temperature and of 0·35 at about 1000°C. Finer particle sized graphites have a lower

Essential Friction: Error-Control in Organizational Behavior

1993
In the physical world, interaction without friction is nearly inconceivable. The most elaborate mechanisms would be required to pick up a bottle, set a table, drive a car, or walk to the door. Objects set in motion, whether pencils, mice, feet, automobiles, or trains, would slide freely until arrested or deflected by collision with another object ...
