A Biologically‐Architected Wear and Damage‐Resistant Nanoparticle Coating From the Radular Teeth of Cryptochiton stelleri

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The ultrahard teeth of mollusks that feed on rocky substrates contain a wear‐resistant coating on their surfaces consisting of densely packed mesocrystalline magnetic nanoparticles within an organic matrix. These coatings display significant hardness and toughness through their highly controlled mesocrystalline architectures.

The 2001 M_w 7.6 Bhuj earthquake, low fault friction, and the crustal support of plate driving forces in India [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We present a source model for the 2001 M_w 7.6 Bhuj earthquake of northwest India. The slip distribution suggests a high stress drop (~35 MPa) and, together with the depth distribution of aftershocks, that the entire crust is seismogenic. We suggest that

Numerical Study of Tire Hydroplaning Based on Power Spectrum of Asphalt Pavement and Kinetic Friction Coefficient

open access: yes, 2017
Hydroplaning is a driving phenomenon threating vehicle’s control stability and safety. It happens when tire rolls on wet pavement with high speed that hydrodynamic force uplifts the tire.

Fokker-Planck Equation for Boltzmann-type and Active Particles: transfer probability approach

open access: yes, 2003
Fokker-Planck equation with the velocity-dependent coefficients is considered for various isotropic systems on the basis of probability transition (PT) approach. This method provides the self-consistent and universal description of friction and diffusion

Biomimetic Ion‐Orchestrated Hierarchical Armored Hydrogel Coating for Robust and Multifunctional Surface Protection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by the skin‐toughening mechanism of marine sponges, an ion‐orchestrated structural engineering strategy is proposed to regulate the surface microstructure of hydrogel coatings, enabling the in situ formation of a robust armor layer that enhances mechanical integrity and provides multifunctional protection by suppressing fouling attachment and ...

Simulation and Research on deep rolling process parameters [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Design and Manufacturing Technology, 2012
Deep rolling is a kind of mechanical surface treatments that can improve surface quality, dimensional accuracy and mechanical properties of the parts. Compressive residual stresses generated by the process reduce the tensile stresses during loading into ...
