Using the molecular dynamics method, we examine a discrete deterministic model for the motion of spherical particles in three-dimensional space. The model takes into account multiparticle collisions in arbitrary forms.

Light reflectance increases along incidence angle and transmittance significantly drops around 90‐degree incidence angle. Here, we report two‐photon laser printed micro mirrors that redirect the skimming light beam into normal light absorption. Using this technique, light‐driven micro walkers and grippers are demonstrated by using grazing incidence ...

Law of Friction: from Tribology to Tribo-Fatigue. Report 3. Experimental Studies
To date, many laws of nature have been discovered. The knowledge of each of them led to the accelerated development of the relevant sections of Science and further, as a rule, to progress in any practical area of the community of people.

Development of hot surfaces generated by friction contacts of titanium alloy and steel
When light alloys used in coal mine, the sparks generated by mechanical friction and impacts are the main effective ignition source. While the hot surfaces are concomitant in friction process, prior to the occurrence of mechanical sparks, whether the hot

Atomic simulations of kinetic friction and its velocity dependence at Al/Al and alpha-Al_2O_3/alpha-Al_2O_3 interfaces [PDF]
Kinetic friction during dry sliding along atomistic-scale Al(001)/Al(001) and alpha-Al2O3(0001)/alpha-Al2O3(0001) interfaces has been investigated using molecular dynamics (MD) with recently developed Reactive Force Fields (ReaxFF).

We discuss crack propagation along the interface between two dissimilar materials. The crack edge separates two states of the interface, ``stick'' and ``slip''. In the slip region we assume that the shear stress is proportional to the sliding velocity, i.

Novel Functional Materials via 3D Printing by Vat Photopolymerization
This Perspective systematically analyzes strategies for incorporating functionalities into 3D‐printed materials via Vat Photopolymerization (VP). It explores the spectrum of achievable functionalities in recently reported novel materials—such as conductive, energy‐storing, biodegradable, stimuli‐responsive, self‐healing, shape‐memory, biomaterials, and

Influence of lubrication on the friction and wear of car rolling bearings
The goal of the work is to develop computational and experimental approaches to determine the wear resistance of friction units with internal contact of cylinders with slip.

Cross-sectional river shapes: A variational discharge-resistance formulation [PDF]
Cross-sectional river shapes were obtained from a variational principle: minimizing the bed friction for a given discharge and a given maximum lateral bed slope (angle of repose).

On slip pulses at a sheared frictional viscoelastic/ non deformable interface
We study the possibility for a semi-infinite block of linear viscoelastic material, in homogeneous frictional contact with a non-deformable one, to slide under shear via a periodic set of ``self-healing pulses'', i.e.
