This paper presents a new contribution to model tire/road friction. It proposes a calculation of hysteretic component of the rubber friction based on a simplified viscoelastic-rough contact model. The mechanical behavior of rubber elements is represented through "Kelvin-Voigt" model.

Adaptive Friction Compensation With a Dynamical Friction Model
IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, 2011This paper presents a new compensation technique for dynamic friction. The proposed control utilizes a PD control structure and an adaptive estimation of the friction force based on an observer. Specifically, a nonlinear function is used to compensate the nonlinear effects of the parameters in the friction model.

Friction Models with discrete Layers
ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 2000AbstractLooking for energy flows inside friction phenomena leads to special formulation of boundary layer in contact regions. The paper presents a local superatom‐discretisation, a special mesoscopic particle approach similar to molecular dynamic techniques, but with respect to thermodynamic laws the particles have inner variables, which indicate ...

Frictional and Non Frictional Unemployment in Models with Matching Frictions [PDF]
This paper uses a model with a matching function in the labor market, where matches last for one period, to obtain the amount of frictional and non frictional (rationed/disequilibrium) unemployment for different standard wage-setting rules when there are matching frictions.

In this paper, an integral friction model is proposed, defining separately the Dahl, the Stribeck and the microviscous effects. The model is based on an integral closed form solution of the Dahl model. It is shown by simulation that the model is consistent with the LuGre model, while being computationally more efficient.

Tribology is the science of friction and wear. In tribology, long effort has been devoted to the study of the physics and dynamics of friction. Controls is concerned with the dynamics of servo machines, but the friction models used for controls analysis are often very basic.

Nanoscale Friction Dynamic Modeling
Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement, and Control, 2009Friction and system models are fundamentally coupled. In fact, the success of models in predicting experimental results depends highly on the modeling of friction. This is true at the atomic scale where the nanoscale friction depends on a large set of parameters.

Model independent friction compensation
Proceedings of the 1998 American Control Conference. ACC (IEEE Cat. No.98CH36207), 1998It is shown that our earlier (1997) robust adaptive nonlinear controller for friction compensation achieves a robust performance for a general class of models capturing friction dynamics. The advocated control design methodology can be used with many existing dynamic models of friction and is robust to parametric and dynamic variations in these ...

GMS friction model approximation
Mechanism and Machine Theory, 2014Abstract The paper deals with the research of sigmoid smooth curve application to the approximation of GMS (Generalized Maxwell-Slip) friction model. The study provides an analysis of the influence of the curves on the effectiveness of friction property modelling and computational efficiency.

Constitutive Equation for Friction: Subloading-Friction Model
2014All bodies in the natural world are exposed to friction phenomena, contacting with other bodies, except for bodies floating in a vacuum. Therefore, it is indispensable to analyze friction phenomena rigorously in addition to the deformation behavior of bodies themselves in analyses of boundary value problems. The friction phenomenon can be formulated as
