Friction Stir Spot Welding of Polypropylene
Journal of Reinforced Plastics and Composites, 2008Friction stir spot welding was used to make lap joints on strip specimens of polypropylene. The effects of tool penetration depth and dwell time on joint strength were investigated. The effect of these parameters on tensile failure load of the resulting joints was determined.

Friction Stir Welding—An Overview
2017Friction stir welding is generally recognized as a solid state welding process and developed to overcome the difficulties of joining of aluminium alloys. Later, this process has been adapted to join copper, steel, dissimilar metals, magnesium, composites , etc.

Friction stir welding of aluminium alloys
International Materials Reviews, 2009Abstract The comprehensive body of knowledge that has built up with respect to the friction stir welding (FSW) of aluminium alloys since the technique was invented in 1991 is reviewed. The basic principles of FSW are described, including thermal history and metal flow, before discussing how process parameters affect the weld microstructure and the ...

Friction Stir Welding Technology
2011The friction stir welding (FSW) process was invented in 1991 by Wayne Thomas et al., one of the authors of this chapter. This machine tool based process is currently considered an important development in welding technology, saving costs and weight for a steadily expanding range of applications of lightweight metallic structures.

Friction Stir Welding and Friction Stir Spot Welding of Similar Aluminium and Copper Alloys
2018Friction stir welding (FSW) and friction stir spot welding are solid state joining processes employed for the joining of similar and dissimilar materials. The processes are used by many researchers; because these processes produce sound welds; and they do not have common welding problems, such as solidification and liquefaction cracking related to the ...
