Scalar fields and exact invariants in a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker spacetime

Physical Review D, 2004
In this work we study scalar fields in a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker space-time. We use the invariant operator formulation of Lewis and Riesenfeld in order to study the behavior of scalar fields placed in the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker space-time. In addition, we construct the coherent states in this background and establish the existence of squeezed ...

Straight strings and Friedmann-Robertson-Walker spacetimes

Physical Review D, 1992
The embeddability of a straight cosmic string in a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) universe is examined. Although previous suggestions that an exact embedding for a string with longitudinal tension equal to energy density is impossible are substantiated, it is shown that the deviations of either the external metric from the exact FRW metric or of the ...

On the thermodynamics of tilted and collisionless gases in Friedmann-Robertson-Walker spacetimes

Classical and Quantum Gravity, 1995
Some features of the thermodynamics of tilted fluids, as witnessed by observers comoving with the fluid, are analysed. The Gibbs equation, expressed in terms of quantities measured by preferred observers comoving with the metric, is obtained and the role played by the entropy production discussed.
