Numerical evolution of axisymmetric, isolated systems in General Relativity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We describe in this article a new code for evolving axisymmetric isolated systems in general relativity. Such systems are described by asymptotically flat space-times which have the property that they admit a conformal extension.

Influence of a Standard Heat Treatment on the Microstructure and Properties of Inconel X‐750 Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ni‐base superalloys produced using additive manufacturing (AM) have a different response to heat treatments when compared to their conventional counterparts. Due to such unpredictability, various alloys with industrial interest are currently overlooked in most prior AM research.

Direct-Splitting-Based CN-FDTD for Modeling 2D Material Nanostructure Problems

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2020
Incorporating a truncation of the complex-frequency-shifted perfectly matched layer (CFS-PML), the direct-splitting- based Crank-Nicolson finite-difference time-domain (CNDS-FDTD) is developed and applied to the infrared two-dimensional layered material (

Geometric and projection effects in Kramers-Moyal analysis

open access: yes, 2009
Kramers-Moyal coefficients provide a simple and easily visualized method with which to analyze stochastic time series, particularly nonlinear ones. One mechanism that can affect the estimation of the coefficients is geometric projection effects. For some

Performance Comparison of Surface Sensitizers for Diode Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Polyamide 12

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser‐generated nanoparticles transform standard PA12 powders into high‐performance, dye‐free feedstocks for diode laser 3D printing. Despite identical absorbance at 808 nm, CuS, LaB6, and CB coatings reveal striking differences in fusion and strength—unlocking new design space for recyclable, industrial‐grade polymers.

Research on karst collapse pillar imaging of water-rich area in coal mine

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2019
In order to solve the problem that selection of time step was limited by Courant-Friedrich-Lewy stability condition in current finite-difference time-domain(FDTD) method commonly used in advanced detection transient electromagnetic method of water-rich ...

Killing spinors in supergravity with 4-fluxes

open access: yes, 2003
We study the spinorial Killing equation of supergravity involving a torsion 3-form $\T$ as well as a flux 4-form $\F$. In dimension seven, we construct explicit families of compact solutions out of 3-Sasakian geometries, nearly parallel $\G_2$-geometries

Comparative Study of Experimental Methods for Measuring Thermal Properties of 100Cr6 Steel Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the thermal properties of 100Cr6 steel in both bulk and powder forms. Measuring the very low thermal conductivity typically exhibited by powders poses significant challenges. To address this, two novel measurement techniques—temperature gradient and finite laser pulse response—are introduced and evaluated by comparison with the ...

Multiscale reconstruction of time series [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A new method is proposed which allows a reconstruction of time series based on higher order multiscale statistics given by a hierarchical process. This method is able to model the time series not only on a specific scale but for a range of scales.

Impact of Various Rotary Friction Welding Process Parameters on the Mechanical Properties of a Steel–Aluminum Joint

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Rotary friction welding of steel E355 and the aluminum alloy EN AW‐6082 can lead to the formation of brittle intermetallic phases. The primary process parameters are varied in order to determine their influence on this intermetallic phase formation and the resulting mechanical properties.
