Neuromorphic Fringe Projection Profilometry

IEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2020
We address the problem of 3-D reconstruction using neuromorphic cameras (also known as event-driven cameras), which are a new class of vision-inspired imaging devices. Neuromorphic cameras are becoming increasingly popular for solving image processing and computer vision problems as they have significantly lower data rates than conventional frame ...

Circular fringe projection profilometry

Optics Letters, 2016
In this Letter, a novel three-dimensional (3D) measurement method, called the circular fringe projection profilometry (CFPP), is proposed. Similar to the conventional fringe projection profilometry, CFPP also requires fringe pattern projection and capture, phase demodulation, and phase unwrapping.

Circular fringe projection profilometry: erratum

Optics Letters, 2017
In this erratum, an error in Eq. (14) in our recently published Letter [Opt. Lett.41, 4951 (2016)10.1364/OL.41.004951OPLEDP0146-9592] is corrected.

Dynamic projection theory for fringe projection profilometry

Applied Optics, 2017
Fringe projection profilometry (FPP) has been widely used for three-dimensional reconstruction, surface measurement, and reverse engineering. However, FPP is prone to overexposure if objects have a wide range of reflectance. In this paper, we propose a dynamic projection theory based on FPP to rapidly measure the overexposed region with an attempt to ...

Image stitching for fringe projection profilometry

Optical and Quantum Electronics, 2021
There are many optical methods for extracting the geometric information of an object from an image. The structured light method based on digital fringe projection is widely employed. Sometimes the fringe patterns have some undesired invalid areas due to drastic surface profile changes of the tested object, or geometric discontinuities.

Least-squares gamma estimation in fringe projection profilometry

Applied Optics, 2021
This paper introduces a novel, to the best of our knowledge, method to estimate and compensate the nonlinear gamma factor introduced by the optical system in fringe projection profilometry. We propose to determine this factor indirectly by adjusting the least-squares plane to the estimated phase coming from the reference plane.

Improvement on fringe projection profilometry

Optical Engineering, 2015
Improvements described consist of modifications of a composite fringe pattern in both frequency and direction of carrier fringes. Through these modified changes, the range of the measurable frequency under the scope of this study is increased nearly fourfold above its normal range.

Uniaxial fringe projection profilometry using projection defocus

Dimensional Optical Metrology and Inspection for Practical Applications IX, 2020
This paper introduces a novel uniaxial fringe projection profilometry (FPP) called active shape from projection defocus profilometry (ASPDP), which utilizes the sharpness analysis of binary fringe patterns to quantify the defocus level. Compared with previous uniaxial FPP methods, our work first utilizes a pinhole defocus model to account for three ...

Gamma correction for digital fringe projection profilometry

Applied Optics, 2004
Digital fringe projection profilometry utilizes a digital video projector as a structured light source and thus gains great flexibility. However, the gamma nonlinearity of the video projector inevitably decreases the accuracy and resolution of the measurement.
