Using Long‐Chain Polymechanophores to Explore the Differences in Mechanoactivation During Nozzle Flow and Ultrasonication

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Flow through a nozzle is a common component of most fluid‐based polymer processing techniques such as spray drying, inkjet printing, extrusion. An ultrahigh molecular weight multi‐mechanophore system is used to probe the differences in the distribution of mechanical activation observed between nozzle flow and ultrasonication; the gold standard ...

Zinc‐Containing Bioactive Glass Programs Macrophage Polarization through Extracellular Traps Regulation for Enhanced Diabetic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Zinc‐containing bioactive glass (ZnBG) promotes diabetic wound healing by regulating macrophage extracellular traps (METs). Specifically, ZnBG reduces oxidative stress and inhibits the PAD4 and NLRP3/caspase‐1/GSDMD signaling pathways, thereby suppressing MET formation.

Revealing How Acid Sites Enhance the Electrocatalytic Glycerol Oxidation Performance on Pt Loaded Zeolite‐Carbon Composite Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In the work reported herein, the catalytic effects of acid sites on electrocatalytic glycerol oxidation reaction are investigated by using a novel catalytic material system that integrates Pt metal sites with acidic Al sites. Abstract The catalytic role and function of acid sites in solid acid catalysts, such as zeolites, are well understood in the ...

Two techniques enable sampling of filtered and unfiltered molten metals [PDF]

open access: yes, 1967
Filtered samples of molten metals are obtained by filtering through a plug of porous material fitted in the end of a sample tube, and unfiltered samples are obtained by using a capillary-tube extension rod with a perforated bucket.

Early Detection of Cell Death Using Transmembrane Water Exchange Magnetic Resonance Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cell death is important in both the development and treatment of cancer. In this study, it is demonstrated for the first time that a specific measurement of the transmembrane water exchange rate using magnetic resonance imaging can be used as an early marker of cell death in mammalian cells, in animals and in human patients. Abstract Cell death plays a
