The Unreliable Traces of the West: Mark Twain's Appropriation of a Symbolical Landscape in Roughing It

open access: yesMiranda: Revue Pluridisciplinaire du Monde Anglophone, 2012
The purpose of this article is to consider the function of traces in Mark Twain's representation of the West in Roughing It. Through the humorous appropriation of the topographical, literary and iconographic markings which provide the landscape with its ...

Ferroelectricity in Antiferromagnetic Wurtzite Nitrides

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We establish MnSiN2${\rm MnSiN}_2$ and MnGeN2${\rm MnGeN}_2$ as aristotypes of a new multiferroic wurtzite family that simultaneously exhibits ferroelectricity and antiferromagnetism with altermagnetic spin splitting. By strategically substituting alkaline‐earth metals, we predict new materials with coexisting switchable polarization, spin texture, and

From Food to Power: Hydrogel Thermoelectrics for Ingestible Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a fully edible thermoelectric–electrochromic platform that harvests heat from food and converts it into a visible color change. N‐type and p‐type hydrogel thermoelectric generators connected in series power anthocyanin‐based electrochromic displays, demonstrating the feasibility of safe, biodegradable, ingestible systems for on‐food ...

Omnipolar Magnetic Field Detection by Superlattice‐Based Hall Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic‐field‐induced electronic switching is demonstrated in unit‐cell‐engineered La0.7Sr0.3MnO3–BiFeO3 superlattices. Distinct substrate terminations modify magnetic and transport properties. Hall resistance measurements show omnipolar, hysteretic anomalous Hall switching above the Curie temperature, arising from Fe─Mn interfacial exchange, enabling

À la frontière de l’Égypte : les représentations du canal de Suez

open access: yesIn Situ, 2019
The ten years it took to dig the Suez canal, from 1859 to 1869, contribute to a founding chapter in the history of representations of the canal, leaving rich collections of pictures and texts, well before the canal’s inauguration.

Electrode and Microstructure Dependence of Oxygen Diffusion in Ferroelectric Hafnium Zirconium Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Significant nanoscale oxygen diffusion coefficient variations are measured in ferroelectric hafnium zirconium oxide films with grain boundaries and electrode interfaces exhibiting values 104 times larger than the grain cores. Overall coefficients are 10X larger for films prepared with metal nitride electrodes compared to refractory metals. New insights

La réserve autochtone « transfrontalière » d’Akwesasne entre Canada et États-Unis, zone de contrebande et faille dans la sécurisation de la frontière

open access: yesTerritoire en Mouvement, 2016
The border between Canada and the United States of America has evolved dramatically after the terrorist attacks of 9/11. The 49th parallel is now more controlled since the US has undertaken a securitization of its borders.
