Palermo became the new capital of Sicily after the Aghlabid conquest in 831. The transformation of the city into a capital took many forms, including the production and consumption of pottery. The perspective from ceramic evidence shows that Palermo underwent faster and deeper processes of Islamization than other urban and rural contexts across the ...

Coherent Raman scattering with plasmonic antennas
Abstract Coherent Raman scattering (CRS) techniques are recognized for their ability to induce and detect vibrational coherences in molecular samples. The generation of coherent light fields in CRS produces much stronger signals than what is common in incoherent Raman spectroscopy, while also enabling direct views of evolving molecular vibrations ...

Archaeometric Analyses of Medieval Pottery from the Lower Danube Region, Romania
This study is about the pottery manufacturing in the Lower Danube region during the Early Medieval period (8th–10th c. AD). Optical microscopy, Particle induced X‐ray emission, and X‐ray diffraction analyses performed on 32 representative ceramic shards excavated at Pantelimonu de Sus, Constanţa County, Romania, provide clues on the raw materials and ...

Toward a mechanistic understanding of plasmon‐mediated photocatalysis
Abstract One of the most exciting new developments in the plasmonic nanomaterials field is the discovery of their ability to mediate a number of photocatalytic reactions. Since the initial prediction of driving chemical reactions with plasmons in the 1980s, the field has rapidly expanded in recent years, demonstrating the ability of plasmons to drive ...

Stimulated Raman Scattering with Optical Vortex Beams
This study presents exact analytical expressions for stimulated Raman scattering with Laguerre‐Gaussian beams, revealing signal dependence on topological and hyperbolic momentum. The results provide a theoretical foundation for coherent Raman imaging and detecting orbital angular momentum of light via structured light in nonlinear optics.
