Swedish Consumers' Willingness‐to‐Pay for Plant‐Based Proteins in Pasta Sauce: Preferences and Policy Scenarios

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper explores Swedish consumers' protein preferences by estimating the willingness‐to‐pay (WTP) for minced meat and plant‐based proteins in pasta sauce from an in‐store experiment (n = 206) and an online discrete choice experiment (n = 517). On average, the WTP was highest for minced meat.

Identification and molecular characterization of Vf-like candidate genes in cultivated apples and selections from Malus sieversii

open access: yes, 2009
The genetic locus for resistance to apple scab most frequently used in apple breeding is Vf, derived from Malus floribunda 821. For the Vf locus a cluster of four resistance gene paralogs encoding receptor-like proteins (RLP) with similarity to the ...

Investigation on apple blotch resistance of Malus baccata ‘Jackii’

open access: yes
The fungal pathogen Diplocarpon coronariae causes apple blotch and has rapidly spread throughout Europe in recent years. The most sustainable approach to control this disease is breeding cultivars that exhibit high tolerance or resistance to it ...

Verifying the parents of the Pillnitzer apple cultivars

open access: yes, 2009
A lot of apple cultivars have been released in Dresden-Pillnitz. Two different series have been developed: the Pi- and the Re-series. Pi- as prefix indicate that cultivars were bred mainly for quality (Pi for Pillnitz) whereas Re- as prefix indicate the ...

Video and Text‐Based Supplemental Health Information and Consumer Willingness to Pay for Nutrient‐Enhanced Eggs

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Nutritional information is very important in the food choices of consumers. However, when they are too scientific or technical, they have the potential to confuse consumers, resulting in information asymmetry and dissuading them from making beneficial choices.

Too Complex to Choose? The Role of Heuristics in Shaping Farmers' Willingness to Pay for Income Stabilization Tool in Italy

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT European agriculture is increasingly exposed to economic instability driven by extreme weather events, market volatility, and geopolitical tensions. To manage these growing risks, farmers are encouraged to adopt innovative risk management strategies such as the Income Stabilization Tool (IST), which offers protection against severe income ...

Gene transfer as an important approach to resistance breeding in apple

open access: yes, 2006
Apple trees were genetically engineered to increase resistance to diseases such as fire blight, apple scab and powdery mildew. To increase resistance to fire blight, genes coding for antibacterial proteins have previously been used, such as attacin E ...

Protection Motivation Theory and Farmers' Participation in Futures Markets: Evidence From Germany

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines why German farmers show limited adoption of commodity futures contracts despite substantial price volatility, applying Protection Motivation Theory (PMT) to understand the cognitive processes driving participation decisions in futures markets. Survey data from 303 German farmers collected in 2024 were analyzed using Partial
