Natural variation in CRABS CLAW contributes to fruit length divergence in cucumber

The Plant Cell, 2022
Abstract Fruit length is a key domestication trait that affects crop yield and appearance. Cucumber (Cucumis sativus) fruits vary from 5 to 60 cm in length. Despite the identification of several regulators and multiple quantitative trait loci (QTLs) underlying fruit length, the natural variation, and molecular mechanisms underlying ...

Study on Java Kapok Fruit and Fiber Length

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
The study focused on structure and fiber length of Java kapok fruit from Pate County, Java Tengah in Indonesia for effective utilization. The internal structure of Java kapok fruit can be divided into two parts: fiber bundle and combination of short staple and seeds. The two parts had little adhesion and large difference in fiber length.

Correlated inheritance of fruit neck with fruit length and linkage relations with 10 other characteristics of cucumber

Euphytica, 1992
The inheritance of cucumber fruit neck size and its linkage relationships with the fruit length and 10 other characteristics was investigated. Frequency distributions and the means of generations indicate intermediate inheritance for neck size and fruit lenght. Correlation and regression analysis suggest strong linkage between fruit neck size and fruit

Biolistic Inoculation of Fruit Trees with Full-Length Infectious cDNA Clones of RNA Viruses

2021
Long life cycle and lack of efficient and robust virus inoculation technique are the major technical challenges for studying virus infection in perennial woody plants such as fruit trees. Biolistic technology also called particle bombardment is a physical approach that can directly introduce virions or viral full-length cDNA infectious clones into ...

STUDIES ON COMBINING ABILITY IN STRAWBERRY (FRAGARIA × ANANASSA). II. FRUIT LENGTH, FRUIT DIAMETER, FRUIT WEIGHT, ASCORBIC ACID, TOTAL SOLUBLE SOLIDS AND FRUIT YIELD

Canadian Journal of Genetics and Cytology, 1982
A 10 × 10 complete diallel cross was carried out in strawberry (Frageria × ananassa Duch.). Significant general (gca) and specific combining ability (sca) effects were recorded for almost all characters. Variances due to gca exceeded the variances due to sca. Significant reciprocal effects were also observed.

Fruit number and weight depend on length, width and thickness of fruiting cladode in Opuntia albicarpa Scheinvar variety ‘Cristalina’

Journal of the Professional Association for Cactus Development, 2017
Opuntia genus is distributed around the world. It grows in a wide range of environmentalconditions, which imply a great variability in fruit yield. Productivity also varies at within-treelevels due to limiting factors like fruiting cladode size. Such a variation can be reducedthrough horticultural practices.

Transcription factor CsMYB36 regulates fruit neck length via mediating cell expansion in cucumber

Plant Physiology
Abstract The fruit neck is an important agronomic trait of cucumber (Cucumis sativus). However, the underlying genes and regulatory mechanisms involved in fruit neck development are poorly understood. We previously identified a cucumber yellow-green peel (ygp) mutant, whose causal gene is MYB DOMAIN PROTEIN 36 (CsMYB36).

DNA MICROSATELLITE IN FRUIT CROPS: ISOLATION, LENGTH POLYMORPHISM, INHERITANCE, SOMATIC STABILITY AND CROSS-SPECIES CONSERVATION

Acta Horticulturae, 2001
We have isolated and sequenced microsatellites in several fruit crop species, such as grape (Vitis vinifera L.), kiwifruit (Actinidia, chinensis Planch), olive (Olea europea L.), and peach (Prunus persica (L.) Batsch), using microsatellite repeat-enriched genomic libraries. The efficiency of the enrichment procedure was variable (about 50 % of positive

LENGTH/DIAMETER RATIO OF APPLES PRODUCED ON DIFFERENT FRUITING STRUCTURES OF THREE APPLE CULTIVARS

Acta Horticulturae, 2010
Apple shape is an important component of the visual fruit quality and can be influenced by several factors. The relationship between the fruiting structures and bud size in the fruit shape (length/diameter ratio) were evaluated in three different cultivars: 'Gala', 'Fuji' and 'Daiane'.
