Automated Benchmarking of Variable‐Property Soft Robotic Fingertips to Enable Task‐Optimized Sensor Selection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sensorized fingertips are needed to unlock robotic dexterity, versatility, and diverse interactions. Here, 15 identically‐shaped robotic fingertips are benchmarked by a fully automated toolchange system, covering eight different materials and six broadly‐ranging sensing mechanisms.

Role of ethylene on various ripening pathways and on the development of sensory quality of Charentais cantaloupe melons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Charentais melons (Cucumis melo L., var cantalupensis Naud.) in which ethylene biosynthesis has been suppressed by an antisense ACC oxidase gene have been used to better understand the role of ethylene in the regulation of the ripening process of ...

Domestication of Tartary Buckwheat Shaped a Regulatory Module for Seedling Salt Tolerance by Targeting the Magnesium Transporter Gene FtMGT2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Domestication of Tartary buckwheat is selected for a salt tolerance mechanism involving the magnesium transporter FtMGT2. Its expression is controlled by the FtAGL16‐FtMYB15L module, which is stabilized under salt stress through a competitive interaction that blocks its degradation by the E3 ligase FtBRG1, ultimately boosting Na⁺ efflux and plant ...

Interactive Effects of Different Field Capacity and Nitrogen Levels on Soil Fertility and Microbial Community Structure in the Root Zone of Jujube (Ziziphus jujuba Mill.) Seedlings in an Arid Region of Southern Xinjiang, China

open access: yesAgronomy
Understanding the regulatory mechanisms of water–nitrogen coupling effects on soil–plant–microbe systems in arid regions is crucial for sustainable agricultural development. This study systematically investigated the interactive effects of field capacity

Pollination treatment affects fruit set and modifies marketable and storable fruit quality of commercial apples

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2019
Insect-mediated pollination increases yields of many crop species and some evidence suggests that it also influences crop quality. However, the mechanistic linkages between insect-mediated pollination and crop quality are poorly known.

The Mitochondrial Guardian α‐Amyrin Mitigates Alzheimer's Disease Pathology via Modulation of the DLK‐SARM1‐ULK1 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dietary habits play a key role in chronic diseases, and higher annual consumption of fruit and vegetable may lower risk of dementia. Artificial intelligence predicts the lipid‐like compound α‐Amyrin (αA) from plants with edible peels as a drug candidate against Alzheimer's disease.
