Self‐Sintering Ionogel Binder for Flexible, Recyclable, and Healable Printed Giant Magnetoresistive Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electronic waste has emerged as a major environmental challenge, driven by the massive consumption and a limited lifetime of modern electronic devices, stimulating the development of sustainable electronics. Here, an all‐biomaterial gelatin‐choline‐citric acid ([Ch][CA]) ionogel is developed as an active binder to realize self‐sintered ...

Structure Formation in Butterfly Scales: Interplay of Genetic Control, Mechanical Instabilities, and Dynamic Material Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Butterfly wing scales are intricate cuticular functional nanosctructures. This perspective suggests that spatially varying material properties, cytoskeletal constraints, and growth‐driven mechanical instabilities shape the resulting nanoscale architectures created from single cells.

Effects of canopy management and fruit thinning on seed quality of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) variety Thilina

open access: yesTropical Agricultural Research, 2015
Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) is a commonly grown vegetable crop in Sri Lanka. As in many other vegetables, lack of good quality seeds is a major constraint in tomato cultivation as there is a deficiency in technologies to obtain high quality seeds ...

An Edible H2O2 Biosensor for Gastrointestinal Metabolites and Peroxidase Enzyme Quantification

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We present an edible biosensor for gastric fluid analysis that integrates a caffeic acid–horseradish peroxidase redox system into an edible electrolyte‐gated transistor. The device enables rapid, low‐volume detection of H2O2 and, with minimal modification, metabolites and enzyme activity in simulated gastrointestinal conditions.

Tree shading: an efficient method to control alternate bearing? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Conventional and integrated fruit growers, but not organic producers, have the possibility to use thinning agents (e.g. benzyl adenine), which allow crop regulation at a relatively late stage (10-16 mm fruit size).
