Models of mast fruiting in trees
Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1979Abstract I analyze a set of life history models that differ in the timing and frequency of reproduction. They predict that mast fruiting should be restricted to populations with relatively high adult survivorship and low population growth rate. Foresters' data on a variety of tree species provide indirect support for these predictions.
