A MODEL FOR PREDICTION OF YIELD AND QUALITY OF CUCUMBER FRUITS

Acta Horticulturae, 1998
The mechanistic model KOSI was developed to predict the weekly fresh weight harvest of cucumber fruits and their quality. The model consists of modules for greenhouse climate, greenhouse light transmission, light interception by the crop, leaf and canopy photosynthesis, assimilate partitioning, dry matter production, fruit growth, fruit dry matter ...

Inflorescence and fruit development and yield.

2018
Abstract The reproductive phase of pineapple begins in response to natural or growth-regulator forced induction of reproductive development. Because the inflorescence of pineapple is terminal, when reproductive development begins, formation of new leaves ceases.

Ammonium reduces growth, fruit yield and fruit quality of watermelon

Journal of Plant Nutrition, 1992
Abstract Watermelon (Citrullus lunatus Thunb.) plants cv ‘Sugar Baby’ were grown hydroponically in a greenhouse under NO3:NH4 ratios of 3:1, 1:1, and 1:3. Plants receiving the high ammonium treatment expressed symptoms of NH4‐toxicity and declined rapidly after bloom. Reducing NO3:NH4 from 3:1 to 1:1 significantly reduced growth, water use, fruit yield,

The Effort to Make Algebra Yield Fruit

The Mathematics Teacher, 1909
If this analysis is correct it has important bearings on the world-wide effort to give concreteness to algebra. Concreteness as Smith and McMurry have pointed out is to be secured by solving problems where they are found, in their home environment.

Development of a Yield Monitor for Citrus Fruits

2006 Portland, Oregon, July 9-12, 2006, 2006
A method to measure the per-tree yield of citrus fruits was developed based on three approaches. Initially, the problem was viewed as a variation on the theme of particle counting as performed earlier on flows of fertilizer particles. The main difference was that 1) citrus fruits are much larger than fertilizer particles 2) they travel at a ...

Drought in Deciduous Fruit Trees: Implications for Yield and Fruit Quality

2012
In many production areas of the world deciduous fruit trees require irrigation to maximize yield and optimize fruit quality. Drought could therefore have a negative impact on fruit production. This chapter addresses yield and fruit quality responses of deciduous fruits (DF) to drought.

Performance of a procedure for fruit yield estimation

2010 Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, June 20 - June 23, 2010, 2010
Early estimation of expected fruit tree yield is important for the market planning and for growers and exporters to plan for labour and boxes. Large variations in tree yield may be found, posing a challenge for accurate yield estimation. We evaluated a multilevel systematic sampling procedure for fruit yield estimation.

Fruit Detection and Yield Prediction

Open orchards are seriously threatened by climate change, which might affect fruit production and put the livelihoods of orchard communities in jeopardy. This proposal investigates how, under this situation, combining technology for fruit recognition and yield prediction can improve community resilience.

Effectiveness of Fruiting Sites in Cotton: Yield

Crop Science, 1990
The fruiting sites at which cotton, Gossypium hirsutum L., plants set bolls that are harvested influence how well the plants tolerate insects. The objective of this research was to determine the fruiting patterns of eight cultivars of cotton in terms of fruiting sites of harvestable bolls when planted in a conventional pattern of rows spaced 1‐m apart ...

Fruiting Activity, Growth and Yield of Oil Palm. I. Effects of Fruit Removal

Experimental Agriculture, 1992
SummaryThe relation between current yield and future yield components in the oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) was investigated by removing a proportion of inflorescences before anthesis. This disbudding caused mean fruit bunch weight to increase by over 60%, with corresponding increases in the components of bunch weight.
