Industry perceptions of biological control in food manufacturing environments: A qualitative analysis of barriers and opportunities

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, Volume 189, Issue 2, September 2026.
Biological control is widely used in agriculture but rarely deployed in food manufacturing, where industry acceptability is unexamined. Semi‐structured interviews with 17 food manufacturing professionals across 15 facility contexts in northwest England and north Wales explored views on entomopathogenic fungi, Bacillus thuringiensis and parasitoid wasps.

Low‐Dose Fisetin Supplementation and Its Association With Chronic Inflammation in Middle‐Aged and Older Adults: Study Protocol for a Triple‐Blind, Randomised, Placebo‐Controlled Trial

open access: yesBasic &Clinical Pharmacology &Toxicology, Volume 139, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Systemic chronic inflammation contributes to the development of many age‐related chronic diseases and represents a promising target for interventions aiming at promoting healthy aging. Fisetin is a naturally occurring flavonoid with anti‐inflammatory, antioxidant and senolytic effects in vitro and in animal models, but evidence from randomised

The Impact of Nutritional Status on Oral Health Outcomes and Management in Older Adults: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesGerodontology, Volume 43, Issue 3, Page 420-455, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective This systematic review and meta‐analysis evaluated the relationship between nutritional status and the oral health of older adults (aged 75 years or older). The PECO focus question was, ‘What is the occurrence, association and impact of nutritional state on the oral health outcomes and its management in older adults?’ Methods A ...

Fly me to the canopy: Diptera communities in oak forest crowns as bioindicators of stand decline

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, Volume 19, Issue 5, Page 1099-1113, September 2026.
Diptera diversity: Oak decline increases the overall Diptera diversity, particularly in saproxylic and floricolous guilds, likely due to more open canopies and greater deadwood and floral resource availability. Family responses: Dolichopodidae, Empididae, Hybotidae and Anthomyiidae thrive in declining stands, whereas Mycetophilidae and other fungus ...
