Three independent genetic systems that control initiation of a fungal fruiting body

Molecular Genetics and Genomics, 1979
The initiation of monokaryotic fruiting in the basidiomycetous fungus Schizophyllum commune has been observed to occur spontaneously, in response to biochemical substances, and following mechanical injury. The responses to these three stimuli are genetically separable and under polygenic control.

Environmental responses of fruiting fungal communities are phylogenetically structured [PDF]

open access: yesEcography, 2023
Through their ephemeral reproductive structures (fruiting bodies), ectomycorrhizal forest soil fungi provide a resource for a plethora of organisms. Thus, resolving what biotic and abiotic factors determine the occurrence and abundance of fruiting bodies

Climate variation effects on fungal fruiting

open access: yesFungal Ecology, 2014
Earth's climate is changing. Effects of climate change on fungal distribution and activity are hard to predict because they are mediated in many different ways, including: fungal physiology, reproduction and survival, host physiology, spatial and ...

The determination of caesium and silver in soil and fungal fruiting bodies by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry

Analytica Chimica Acta, 1996
Methods have been developed for the determination of caesium and silver in soil and fungal samples by microwave-assisted aqua regia digestion, followed by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry. The procedure was found to be repeatable (for soil, RSD < 5%, n = 3, at caesium and silver concentrations of 1.8 and 0.6 mg g(-1), respectively, and for

Biosorption of Cr (VI) by acid-modified based-waste fungal biomass from Calocybe indica fruiting bodies production

International journal of phytoremediation, 2022
The world is going through a colossal drinking water scarcity. Unchecked discharge (even at trace levels) of Cr (VI) from industries into water bodies is a serious environmental concern.

Lipopolysaccharides from a Shiraia fruiting body-associated bacterium elicit host fungal hypocrellin A biosynthesis through nitric oxide generation.

Carbohydrate Polymers, 2023
Hypocrellin A (HA) is an excellent perylenequinone photosensitizer from Shiraia fruiting bodies. A dominant bacterium Pseudomonas fulva SB1 in the fruiting body was found to promote HA biosynthesis.

Comparative transcriptome analysis of abnormal cap and healthy fruiting bodies of the edible mushroom Lentinula edodes.

Fungal Genetics and Biology, 2021
Lentinula edodes, a commercially important mushroom, is cultivated worldwide. Artificially cultivated L. edodes often present with abnormal symptoms in the fruiting body, which affect their commercial value and reduce production efficiency. In this study,

Collembola associated with fungal fruit-bodies in Australia

Pedobiologia, 2002
The Collembola on fruit-bodies of 36 collections of Holobasidiomycetes from southern Australia were identified. Thirty-one species, from 18 genera and six families were collected. Thirty per cent of individuals were Brachystomellidae and 65 per cent were introduced hypogasturids belonging to the genera Hypogastrura and Ceratophysella.

Study on the nutritional relationships in mycelia and fruiting bodies of Hypsizygus marmoreus under defined nutrient conditions.

Food Chemistry
Edible fungal fruiting bodies develop from mycelia that experienced physiological knotting, establishing a tight nutrient connection between mycelia and fruiting bodies. Despite this connection, limited research has explored this field.

De novo transcriptome and proteome analysis of Dictyophora indusiata fruiting bodies provides insights into the changes during morphological development.

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2019
De novo transcriptome assembly and shotgun proteome analysis of Dictyophora indusiata fruiting bodies were performed. A total of 19704 unigenes were sequenced, and 4380 proteins were identified.
