Analytical kinematics and working-condition simulation for friction stir welding (FSW) robot
In this paper, combining with the engineering reality needs, we developed a new type of friction stir welding robot welding system. Through the configuration analysis, introduces the structural components and functional roles of each part of the FSW robot, as well as the commonly used five kinds of typical working-conditions.

Impact of Tool Velocity Ratio on Welding Loads and Mechanical Properties in Friction Stir-Welded AA7075/AA2024 Plates. [PDF]
The emphasis on dissimilar joining of aluminum alloys has increased due to the growing need for lightweight, highly durable structures in the transportation and aerospace industries. For these applications, friction stir welding (FSW), a solid‐state joining technology that offers better structural integrity than traditional fusion techniques, has ...

Parametric finite-element studies on the effect of tool shape in friction stir welding [PDF]
The success of the Friction Stir Welding (FSW) process, and the weld quality produced, depends significantly on the design of the welding tool. In this paper the effect of variation in various tool geometry parameters on FSW process outcomes, during the ...

Characteristics of Friction Plug Joints for AA2219-T87 FSW Welds
In this study, Friction plug welding (FPW) for 8 mm thickness AA2219-T87 sheets were carried out, and defect-free joints were obtained. The geometric size of plug and plate hole, rotational speed and welding force exhibit significant effects on the weld formation.

A Review paper on Friction Stir Welding (FSW)
Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is a new solid-state welding technique which finds application in various industries. It involves the joining of metals without any help of fusion or filler material. The joint between two metals can be formed through the combined action of frictional heating and mechanical deformation which is developed due to a rotating ...

Numerical Modelling of Microstructure Evolution in Friction Stir Welding (FSW) [PDF]
This work studies the metallurgical and microstructural aspects of Friction Stir Welding (FSW) in terms of grain size and microhardness. The modelling is based on the combination of an apropos kinematic framework for the local simulation of FSW processes and a material particle tracing technique for tracking the material flow during the weld.

The Effect of Friction Coefficient in Thermal Analysis of Friction Stir Welding (FSW)
The process of Friction Stir Welding (FSW) can be deeply investigated with the help of finite element modelling. In reality, the friction coefficient would decrease, because as the temperature rises the material becomes softer and weaker. However, past studies often presumed that the friction coefficient is a constant value, a presumption which ...
