Shaping Ti3C2 MXene Nanospheres for Precision Near‐Infrared Photothermal Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we report producing spherical MXenes via fs laser fragmentation of Ti3C2 flakes in liquid medium. The nanoparticles demonstrated pronounced light absorption and high photothermal conversion efficiencies of 68% and 63% under heating with NIR‐I and NIR‐II lasers, respectively.

Monitoring wine aging with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR)

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences, 2015
Oak wood has commonly been used in wine aging but recently other wood types such as Acacia and Chestnut, have attracted the interest of the researchers due to their possible positive contribution to wine quality. However, only the use of oak and chestnut

Zwitterionic Self‐Assembled Monolayer for Simultaneous Noise Suppression and Hole Extraction in High‐Performance Near‐Infrared Organic Photodetectors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a new hole transporting material (HTM) mechanism for self‐assembled monolayers in near‐infrared organic photodetectors. The formation of zwitterions induces a strong electric field that significantly increases the work function of HTM‐coated indium tin oxide substrates. The devices exhibit low dark current and noise, along with high

Structural characterisation of pre-processed thermoplastic protein derived from bloodmeal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Additives are required to convert bloodmeal powder into an extrudable thermoplastic protein-based bioplastic. These include a protein denaturant, a surfactant, a reducing agent and plasticisers.

Nanosized silver–palm pollen nanocomposite, green synthesis, characterization and antimicrobial activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Palm pollen (PP) has been widely used in nutrition, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. In the present study, we explored the potential of PP in the synthesis of a silver nanoparticle (Ag NP). PP was used as both reducing and stabilizing agent.

Covalent Organic Frameworks for Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction: Metal Integration Principles, Strategies and Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with metals have been recognized as versatile platforms for photocatalytic CO2 reduction (CO2PRR). Herein, an overview of metal integration strategies for COFs is systematically summarized. Regulatory mechanisms and structure–activity relationships between metal integration and COF‐based CO2PRR are emphasized.
