Inorganic carbon acquisition by Xiphophora chondrophylla (Phaeophyta, Fucales)

Phycologia, 1996
Abstract Measurements of parameters related to photosynthesis, with particular reference to the mechanism of inorganic C acquisition, were made on Xiphophora chondrophylla (R. Brown ex Turner) Montagne ex Harvey, an Australasian fucoid living in the upper subtidal and in low intertidal rock pools.

Seasonal module dynamics in Sargassum subrepandum (Fucales, Phaeophyta)

Journal of Phycology, 2008
Module dynamics of the fucoid alga Sargassum subrepandum (Forssk.) C. Agardh was studied in the southern Red Sea. Seasonal variation in thallus density and size was determined, and the initiation, growth, reproduction, and shedding of modules (primary laterals) were ascertained, using a tagging approach.

Typification of the Indo‐Pacific Sirophysalis trinodis (Fucales: Sargassaceae)

TAXON, 2015
AbstractThe typification of the Indo‐Pacific seaweed Sirophysalis trinodis (Phaeophyceae) is discussed. Original material conserved in the Herbarium Forsskålii at C is designated as the lectotype.

Sulfated polysaccharides of the Vietnamese brown alga Sargassum aquifolium (Fucales, Sargassaceae)

Carbohydrate Research, 2017
A fucoidan preparation named FSA was isolated from the brown alga Sargassum aquifolium collected from the coastal waters of Vietnam. l-Fucose, d-galactose, d-mannose, d-glucuronic acid, d-xylose, and sulfate were found to be the main constituents of FSA.

2014
During the 43 days natural and laboratory experiments it was established that in Ascophyllum nodosum (L.) Le Jol. Fucus vesiculosus L. and F. serratus L. from the Barents Sea the changes in the pigments concentrations take place after polar night. The data obtained are discussed, while taking into account the adaptation of photosynthetic apparatus of ...

On a carbon dioxide gradient in the Fucales egg

1954
Previous investigations suggest that a CO2-pH gradient is involved in the development of polarity in the Fucales egg. To test this hypothesis, a method was developed to measure the relative CO2 output from the two hemispheres of this egg. The eggs are photosynthetically tagged with C14 and embedded in a thin jelly membrane in which the eggs develop ...
